Tonight I experienced something I've never felt before..
I try to be curtious and help anyone I can, within reason, throughout life. Tonight, someone quite unexpectedly off the marina, came round with a slice of chocolate cake she'd baked for me as a gift, it took all my self control not to well up!!
Now, I've done and asked for loads of 'manual labour & techy' type favours for folk without ever thinking about taking or offering anything but tonight's action brought home to me just how much a small act of kindness. / consideration means!
Remember folks.....Little things sometimes mean so much!

I was given a bottle of rum by a woman on a boat moored opposite yesterday. She must have thought I was a pirate. She told me on saturday that she had locked herself out and I went across in the dinghy and cut the padlock with my cordless angel grinder.
(I do know it's her boat as have seen her getting on and off it)

Reading that post has got my urges to buy a cordless angle grinder on the rise.... any recommendations? I have a load of Makita stuff and hence plenty of their batteries for drills, radio, vacuum, sander etc so fancy one of those but cheapest I can find is Β£93... whats your views? ( no offer of cake or rum has been made in exchange for this info!)

I discovered randomly when doing ebay searches that makita used to make a 7.2v angle grinder years ago. Not a heavy duty piece of kit it is mainly designed for deburring welds but it works well with a 4" slitting disc to take padlocks apart. Uses the old 7.2v stick batteries. Makita 9500D is the model number. They turn up on eBay now and again . About Β£40 I paid for a secndhand one. I have all the other 7.2v tools so plenty of batteries. Its NOT a heavy duty tool. I put a flap disc on it and sanded some wood and it burnt the motor out so I replaced the motor. Not really a general purpose tool its good at some things but terrible at other things. Lovely small unit which is very comfortable to use and as it is not too fast (5-6000rpm) you don't get showered with sparks when cutting and it can be handled one handed easily and safely. Someone selling new ones from Japan for Β£80 inc shipping. Don't know about import charges. Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/282730425949Makita 9500D bicycle thief grinder

Tonight I experienced something I've never felt before.. would that be related to your transgender status and flaunting it so brazenly?

Lol.... just shattered a dream of someone actually having a kind heart over at the council estate side of the marina... so it was actually just a way of getting rid of the scraps huh? Probably fell on the floor before she brought it over too!! Random acts of kindness...my arse!! π

I always stop for broken down cars. Even if it's just to push them out of the way. It's amazing the carnage one car can cause in rush hour.
I've lost count of all the tyres I have changed.
I don't get any cake though.

As a VW camper driver it's considered good manners to stop and help if you see one broken down. I used to do it, but frankly the bastards never even offer a fiver to cover the points you just supplied, fitted and timed up (for instance). Now I drive on by because if you are not prepared to maintain a 40-50 year vehicle you shouldn't buy one. I'm helping them see reality really.
