Ok, let's be honest now, who has turned their heating back on/lit the stove ?
I certainly have, it might not have been really cold but I appreciate a nice warm room when I come out of the shower. I have had mine on for the last couple of days, I have a very large skylight in the saloon (about 6' X 4'6") and when you look up at rain and grey skies it is a bit depressing, it's nice then to turn up the heat and curl up in an armchair.
I haven't had to water my strawberry plants ...... I've had to go and bail the trays out instead !

I haven't had to water my strawberry plants ...... I've had to go and bail the trays out instead ! I have still those three Bags laying on the front deck John.I did turn the engine on the other day which gave me some heat from the middle of the boat where its situated,I have also capped the chimneys.I am going to move today or tomorrow so I may light the boatman's though the forecast looks good. I did notice that I have run out of lamp oil so after phoning Uxbridge Yard I shall give them a visit Saturday,I also need a glass chimney for one of the Gimball Lamps as my old man managed to smash one on his last visit,in fact its got to the stage that any visitors to the boat at all, you are continuously on edge waiting on the dreaded breakage.I must admit that I prefer the rain and the grey skies of a Winters Afternoon, the fire and the armchair, but there just wasn't that much rain last winter, I didn't seem to notice the season changing.

And another scorching day ahead in northern Finland, sunglasses and air conditioning on in the bus. Suddenly there is the feeling of Summer - there are less kids in the bus (gone on holiday early I suspect) - a bit like when driving to the coast and the scenery changes slightly and there's that smell of salt in the air and a bit of sand on the roads from the beach. Quiet at home too - girlfriend has taken the cat on a Pendolino to Helsinki where it'll be at my son's for 10 weeks. He has two cats so it'll have someone to play with. Mosquitoes arrived last weekend - terror on wings! Last morning of work Saturday, have to gather some kids up and take them to Kannus church:

Heating has been back on 24/7 since Sunday and shows no signs of going off yet.

Probably not by your standards Foxy, but it is 10 degrees outside at the moment and according to my thermometer thingy, it got down to 8.5 degrees during the night. but it was a bit colder yesterday.

I doubt the fire will be lit again until next winter. From now, on shoreline mains, I use a fan heater. It's cheaper than coal for the amount of time I need to use it.

Fan heater for me too. Had to have it on for ten minutes when I got up this morning to take the chill off.
