It is a bit odd, seeing that Irn Bru is already available in non sugar form. Not sure what the effect of reducing sugar will have on taste, but I can see it affecting the hangover cure properties.
It's not the alcohol content of Buckie that is the problem, it's the high caffeine content which keeps the drunks on their feet when fighting drunk. I'm surprised that the opposition to minimum alcohol pricing was led by the whisky industry : it won't effect them, except perhaps for some of the "matured for 20 minutes " blends.
I'm sure minimum pricing will come into effect south of the border at some time, as happened with the smoking ban.

"Bucky" is known in Scotland (or at least the very small geographical area of Scotland where it is popular) as "Wreck the hoose juice".

I'm sure minimum pricing will come into effect south of the border at some time, as happened with the smoking ban. I hope not. The system we have is bad enough. I used to love going down Tesco and buying 24 cans for a tenner. I don't want prices going up any more. What is the difference between minimum pricing in Scotland and what it is here. In England booze can't be sold for less than the tax and vat cost and as tax is done by units we have an effective minimum price per unit. We're o my allowed to mark down reduced booze by 33% to make sure we stay within the law. To save a tax bill carling reduced there abv from 4 to 3.8 but left it at 4 on the can as they did not want the customers to think they are owed a cut in the savings. Your allowed 0.5% difference. Stella ain't the same since they cut the %.
