Hi all, i am starting to plan the launch of my 20 foot cruiser in about 4 months time. I am saving for a trailer but a few things have cropped up and i need more time for that fund now. I spoke to a few chaps with a trailer but as it is on hard standing and at my house they will not drag it on in case of any damage to the boat or there trailer. Understandable. I have done it many a time myself but then i had my own trailer and boats. I have called around also for trailer hire but nobody does that anymore around here. Only way i can think of for now to get it launched is by Hiab again. So if anybody knows of one on hire can you please let on. It will be going from Manchester M26 4HU to Boothstown Marina M28 1YB Cheers Wayne  |

I'll have a word with my SIS colleagues and see if they planning some Chinook heavy lift training exercises in the area.

I had a break back trailer for my 17.5ft cruiser, never used that function but it's supposed to pick up a boat from a hard standing.
When you do launch you'll have to come up to the top of the hill for a try out trip. Mrs Tabby will provide security on the one bad day of the trip!

Now that would be handy, if you will please, would that be the first IS boat launch by Helicopter I had a break back trailer for my 17.5ft cruiser, never used that function but it's supposed to pick up a boat from a hard standing. When you do launch you'll have to come up to the top of the hill for a try out trip. Mrs Tabby will provide security on the one bad day of the trip! I can easy get it on a trailer, dome so a few times now with the boats i have had. The cradle/sit is on is near trailer height or can be adjusted to suit anyway. Just a matter of dragging the trailer under. The launch plan, for now, is in around Bridgewater then a weekends of cruising to Carnforth back and over to Stanley ferry. Could always divet as no fixed plans yet. Changed my mind so many times now. |

You could tack the cradles up together with her sat on them so you have a template to work to then make your trailer at your leisure. I could but he will charge full wack at around £500, i got a deal of £100 with him to get it here as it was in with a van i sold him. Bloody bargain hey. I have a chap who said he will will let me use his, he is in Goole so not to far but its about 7.5m long and i am short on space to get it under but tomoz i will measure up if i can squeezeit in front to drag the boat on. The way it is going i will make a trailer anyway once its afloat a si have the axles just need a set of leaf springs which aint much, it will be road legal of course  |

Re the carnforth trip, did that with ours,trailered in once at moons bridge and a couple of times at bridge House marina. Tewitfield and glasson dock a must. There's a great smokehouse at glasson, well worth the few locks.

Its Manchester so not short on them but last time when i got the boat moved here they were all around £500 for a one way 9 mile trip. I got a 26 footer moved 18 miles for a little more, shame tey dont do boats anymore. |

Is it not possible to hire a self hire hiab for a day and get one of our lorry driving friends on here to drive it.
Failing that is be asking the local builders merchant driver if he wants to earn 100 notes if you have something delivered one Saturday morning.

Glad they no longer have the key dongle. We turned up in 2002/3 having trailed our boat up and couldn't access the sani points till we picked up a key dongle from the then BW office in Galgate. I presumed he's thinking of dragging his boat up there on a trailer. Unless there is another carnforth? |
