Just so i can sleep a little tonight i need to rant a bit more a si have been most the day. When things are going so well, boat near done and ready in the planning the launch of FAFFER in a few months, and what frigging happens. Loading the van this morning and one of the lads ( driver ) says, `Hey wolly i believe you are dropping a few shops next week` me ` eeerrrr no, not that i know of. Oh yes Lee the new lad told me yesterday. Pete a mate from work said the same when he came in. SO again i am the last to bleeding know. I got back tonight from my run and spoke to the TM, `oh yes from 1st Feb your run has changed, 3 first shops have been moved to a new run. Now i think he got the jist i was not happy as when i asked what hell is going on and what hair brained pillock decided this with out even telling me. He ddint answer but looked builty as he looked away from me. I mentioned the two point that pissed me off ( surprised i still have a job at that point ) first i was not told sooner, and second i will be loosing 23% of my wage with this. He ddint even realise that. They can do this aswell as we are contracted to 40hrs and i was doing around 56-60hrs, no notice needed i believe. much like last time when they dropped it back then. FFS do people even bother to think about others nowadays. So to end it i am down a dam big chunk of my wage now so biggest deal now is that i think the boat will t be ready or launched now, friggin sods law init. That is part of the problem but the rest is just going to balls up my job more unless they see sense and understand it is different when out on the road than being sat behind a bloody PC in an office. I was shit on with the last job from a big hight and the way this place is going i wont last long now, i canat cope with being arsed about. Sorry for the rant, not like me but its been a long day do i feel better.......nah not yet. Sod it am off to bed.

Sorry to hear about your crap day caused by folks inability to do the right thing by others, it sounds like a little bit of a shitty situation to me!
Unfortunately as far as rants goes that can only warrant a measly 3 out of 10!
Not one crude, rude, derogatory, abusive or just plainly offensive remark aimed at immigrants, lesbians, gays, non gender specific, lazy scrounging, re-moaning, scrotey, shitting dog owners?
I find going off on one and blaming any one of the above for anything at all wrong in the world does my stress levels wonders, which results in my chilled out /couldn't really give a toss personality in real life!
Hope things pick up for you tomorrow!

I'm surprised that you are surprised, TBH.
It is my understanding that no-one should be required to work more than 48 hours per week on average. It is AFAIK part of the European legislation, and I believe France was very keen on it (country of long lunch hours and loads of petanque). Of course these restrictions don't apply to eastern European truck drivers but they have to keep busy to avoid the perils of drink and prostitutes while they are away from home (unless they manage to enjoy those thrills whilst also driving and texting in the slow lane at 55mph).
I've just googled it and I am pleased to report that the Working Hours Directive does not apply to inland waterways, so continuous moorers cruisers can relax.

this won't help but just for the record, until I got made redundant, I regularly worked 70 + hour weeks and only got paid for 40... being on a salary apparently worked "both ways" ... except that it didn't cause I never worked less than 40 either.
twunts... the lot of them.
The sun is shining today though so perhaps your mood will be lifted. Fingers crossed. IF NOT, I'm sure Mr Stabby could dispose of a few people for you - no questions asked in exchange for a drop of moonshine.

I've just googled it and I am pleased to report that the Working Hours Directive does not apply to inland waterways, so continuous moorers cruisers can relax. I am not surprised, more peeed off, slight difference. We are not required, its our choice to do it. I asked for the hours aswell, more hours more money, as said we are paid for 40 hrs even if we do 35 we get paid for 40, hours over that 40 are hourly rate thereafter, some are lucky to do that 36 or so on there runs. Not long ago i was on around 68 hrs when i was helping out on another run to set it up and sort the shops out. They asked i jumped at it. All this EU shit is only for protection for those that dont want to be forced to work longer hours than the standard. this won't help but just for the record, until I got made redundant, I regularly worked 70 + hour weeks and only got paid for 40... being on a salary apparently worked "both ways" ... except that it didn't cause I never worked less than 40 either. twunts... the lot of them. Bit like my Bro n the wagon tramping, infact he just jacked in today as it happens and moved to another job, there were weeks and months when he was on less than min wage. On a salary but was going 15-17hrs when the other lads on same money doing no more than 12hr days though. Anywa7, another day gone by, still annoyed but chilled, i spoke to the transport manager again tonight and i am going to see how it pans out for a month or so. He said if he can, as he didnt realise i was loosing so much money that he will see if he can get me on alternate days on a longer run like Basingstoke, only 11 hr days but gets me a little back.

If you're doing 60 hours instead of 40, doesn't that mean you are 'stealing' 20 hours from someone who really needs a job? How on earth do you work that out, the runs cant be split into runs, not cost effective. And are you saying i dont really need the money ? very odd thing to say IMO.

It's like pensioners who carry on working after they've retired. They always 'need' more money. Why? They are old, they've had their life, time to slow down and be put out to grass. 40 hours a week should give you all you need. If not, then an increase in pay is required. What you then do in your spare time is up to you, if you want to keep working, then get to it, but in the form of being self-employed. Of course, if you are good at your job, and are a specialist in something and people really need you, then you could do more than 40 hours. What a crock of shit. So should i feel guilty that i want a roof over our heads, a car, and heaven forbid a boat or interest. You will freak now then, when i was doing a basic 45hr week in my last job , shit more than your only 40 hrs needed, 8hr day, and then came home and fixed cars and bought and built trailers in my SPARE time to eran more money than the min wage paid beck then. I was doing 16hr days then all together. Oh shit maybe i should employed somebody aswell to give them a job and half my money i was making. Oh shit i didnt pay tax on that wokr after the PAYEE job.
