I thought I'd start a thread on the subject of your raw water pump.
It sounds as though you have a 3/8" port Jabsco pump? This should be ok flow rate wise. Your looking at 1.5 gallons per minute per 10 hp. A 8mm/5/16 hose tail is a little on the small side though. 3/8" minimum but 1/2" would be better.
As for your pink bits. Dezincification is a serious issue. You need to check the skin fittings and seacocks for any sign of corrosion - fingers crossed it's only the wrong hose tails that have been fitted.
Look to replace with 316 stainless, bronze or DZR brass fittings.
Pictures help..... ππ’π¨π¨π¨

I thought this was going to be about the sea cock. The pump has 8mm female threads on it btw I put in bog standard 8mm gas pipe fitting on the outlet which was the one which sheared off due to being pink. Its sorted for now. I think the sea Cock is bronze as it looks like a proper one. The pipe from jabsco to heat exchanger is probably 3/8 but as this is above the waterline I am not too concerned about its condition. I jumped from 8mm copper to the assumed 3/8 using some rubber hose to increase diameter of the 8mm then some silicone hose onto the 3/8 bit. Loads of jubilee clips on the boat already so its all clipped on and no leaks. I will be replacing the jabsco inlet pipe as well as it is the same pink colour and probably liable to break off at some point. Spare 8mm fitting carried on board.

Here in engineering land we usually use BSP fittings for air and fluids. The Jabsco range of pumps go from 1/4 BSP upwards. Is it an 8mm 1/4bsp gas pipe fitting you've used? I'm intrigued more than anything! Colvic would certainly have used a proper seacock when built. Anything on the boat that has a gate valve fitted to it wants it replacing and lobbing at the nearest cat/arsehole - they have no place on a boat. Don't overlook the condition of the exhaust hose. The correct stuff isn't dear from the likes of ASAP Supplies. Sounds like you've got it in hand though ππ’π»

The jabsco pump has an 8mm female thread on on inlet and outlet. I mean the threads which come with 8mm brass fittings - not actually 8mm diameter threads. I don't know what the actual thread is I only know it fits.
I have fitted an 8mm - 8mm gas pipe fitting. No resistance to screwing it into the pump body (other than the PTFE tape I wrapped around the threads). The fitting is the type which has one end with an olive other end without an olive (the end which goes in the jabsco pump has no olive obviously).
It is a jabsco it says it on the cover plate but I didn't write down the number.
Exhaust hose looks pretty recent. The exhaust manifold and water injection elbow has also been replaced fairly recently with a hand made stainless steel unit which seems pretty impressive to me.

Looking it up 1/4bsp seems to be ~13mm "major diameter" so yes this does seem to be what it is

Before I cleaned the jabsco outlet which was blocked with shite it was dribbling but now it seems to pump about as fast as I can release a can of beer from my bladder or maybe a bit faster Its definitely suitable for the engine

I was looking through the spares and the old git who owned the boat previously only had 4 new impellers in their boxes with the paper gaskets.
I'm going to buy a couple more just to be on the safe side.
