We'll be asking at Brighouse household waste dump if they'd like 45 litres of murky diesel and a few litres of black engine oil. Believe me, there will not be 45 litres of murky diesel at the bottom of your tank. I'd be amazed if you get a litre. But let us know. Already have 25 litres that is so dirty I'm not putting it back in. Has been standing since October, hasn't settled. We'll see the next 20 litres tomorrow...

When I pumped diesel out from the bottom of my tank it was totally pure red diesel. I do always keep the tank as full as possible and I presume previous owners had done the same, it's near-empty tanks which attract condensation.n

Yep,we keep our tank topped up too. However,we are thinking of having our fuel polished before we do the Ribble link as do not fancy breaking down mid crossing😮.

some of you might remember that last Summer when I set off from the Thames in Sabina, I had to call in at Harwich due to galloping diesel bug problems.
I ended up with some 700 litres of contaminated diesel in drums on my deck. Up till a couple of weeks ago this was still stacked on my foredeck. I bought a Parker turbo filter housing, a box of spare filter elements and a diesel pump and built a filtering system, so far I have only cleaned about 25 or 30 litres (cycled through the filter about 4 times) but it looks as if I might be able to polish and use 3oo or 4oo litres from the batch .... maybe a little more.
The plan is that after I have reclaimed as much as possible from the collection on deck, to connect the pump and filter into the main fuel tank so that it continuously polishes the fuel.

Must admit to having had several people on block ( getting back on track briefly ) Have now unblocked as life is too short. I'll just have to learn to ignore threads about fancy cars wot I have owned. Get enough of that on the other side. Jerry

We had ours filtered ('polished' - a made-up term to help you open your wallet) by machine for 5 hours when we first picked up this boat. It took only the first filter (didn't need a second or third...) and that was only greyish, not black. I think my method of sucking up what's on the bottom to be a valid action. Tea and chocolate biscuits now... and then workclothes on and get out there and do it. Temperature +1 outside, +22 in kitchen.

I haven't blocked anyone. I just skip over if I see it's a load of waffle. You won't catch me on the Rugby thread, nor the alternative-reality-long-story bar, can't be bothered to go for the fairy-tale of electric/driverless vehicles.

This is true, polishing is simply filtering and water separation, but with a name designed to suggest that specialist equipment is required to do it. However, in that you had it done when you bought the boat which was only a few years ago yet you have recently removed another 20 or 25 litres of sludgy diesel from the tank, I'd be asking myself if canal or rain water was finding its way into the fuel tank somehow.

I've not blocked any one but I do sometimes wonder if I've been blocked.
Not for being offensive but an idiot.

Years ago (I was perhaps 25) me and a mate went round to a chap’s house in Newbury on our bikes. He was a member of the gliding club up here, but worked as a BA 747 captain out of Heathrow. Nice guy, but obviously quite a posh house. I did a huge dump in his downstairs loo that wouldn’t go away. Very embarrassing, I had to tell him that sorry, I’d blocked his downstairs lavatory. Does that count? (True story).

Read the title who. /huː,hʊ/ pronoun 1. what or which person or people. 2. used to introduce a clause giving further information about a person or people previously mentioned.
