If Skipton's population hasn't changed since the 2011 census, then there should be 14,622 people nearby
It probably has changed a bit though.

dogless is nearby - in fact, Google Maps says the shortest route is via Burnley, M65, Foulridge, Earby, Thornton-in-Craven and Broughton. 28 miles.
Hebden Bridge - Oxenhope - Wycoller (past the Old Silent Inn) - Cowling - Kildwick is 33 miles. But, of course, more scenic.

Quicker. Views of the lakes hills.

Yes, that looks like a nice road - I just dropped the Google Street View Man here 'n' there on it. I once walked from Earby to Haworth, mostly along the Pennine Way, through Lothersdale and Cowling.

Daughter lived in Lothersdale, granddaughter went to primary skule there. My ex married a farmer who lives nearby.

It's the big festival this weekend in Skipton, so we're hanging back. May reach Gargrave this week so we can train into Skipton for a look round at the weekend. Meeting up with Patty, Andy and Mark has left me quite 'tired and emotional' for a day or so, therefore a rest was necessary. I keep meeting Thunderboaters and they're all great fun. One day we ought to plan a 'big arse kicking get together'. But we shouldn't leave it too long cos Stabby and Telemachus are quite old Rog

I'm 64 in 15 days and still up for it. Pic of me in a show last weekend. Did the "flying" bit with stilts on too, that pic is from rehearsals.

Went down the cellar at the Anchor Inn today. Terrific laundrette in Barnoldswick, and several great cafes. Smashing spot Rog

My favourite moorings are the ones below greenberfield lock. Lower park marina is a friendly boat yard as well Wayne who runs it is atop bloke.

Strange arrangement above Greenberfield, kris, where there are lovely jetty moorings, totally empty, but signage says they are 'permanent moorings' only.
I can't imagine there'd be a huge problem if I used them, but odd to see them totally empty.

It means they are there permanently for mooring, and anyone can use them.

There used to be some boats moored above the locks, it's a while since I was there. My favourite moorings are the ones below the locks. On a clear day the view there is amazing. Your making me jealous I'd love to be mooring up there.
