In my own parking charge debacle I spent 2 years sending an email to every letter they sent me with the reference number and the message "court of fuck off". Strangely they chose both. Started proceedings and before the hearing, decided to fuck off.

It would be interesting to know the deal between cart and district enforcement. How much do cart pay them to police boats without mooring permits using carts long term online moorings. I can't imagine there was much of a problem with boats staying on cart moorings without permission, so seems like a sledge hammer to crack a nut unless of course maybe you where planing to privatise the whole enforcment department? You might need a reason to start the privatisation process, but it looks like that's underway. I have never seen any district enforcement personnel on the towpath, so I wonder where they get the imformation they act upon? It would be very interesting to know if they have managed to extract money from boaters yet. in the parking world they will generally but not always do it for free but keep all the income.

If someone keeps threatening you with court action for something you haven’t done and it is causing distress then the Harassment Act 1997 may apply. www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1997/40/contentsIf anyone feels they are being harassed by threatening emails/letters (non-verbal), that’s good enough to apply to the courts (or at least threaten them that you will!!). A good summary from a solicitors web site : “The Protection From Harassment Act 1997 1) Under this Act it becomes a criminal offence if you: Cause alarm, harassment or distress more than once as a result of an action you conduct against another person. The conduct might be verbal or non-verbal and it doesn’t have to be the same type of action on each occasion – ### if the person FEELS alarmed, harassed or distressed by your actions, then it is deemed harassment, even if that was not your intention. ### 2) Take any kind of action against another person which causes a fear of violence. This must happen on at least two occasions. The alleged offender must be aware, or ought to be aware, that their actions are likely to induce a fear of violence in the other person.” Another approach is to make it clear in any reply to emailed demands that you will make a charge (say £50) for every email/letter you have to process from them. (After all, it’s taking up your valuable time and someone is getting paid to send them to you!).

...or just remove you boat name and number before mooring at Tesco Reading.
Then what?

It's a bit difficult to remove ours as they are transfers, well and truly stuck on. No, I think the thing to do is to tell the Ukrainian creep to take a running jump - first ask what did the judge say about their dubious 'business' and use that as evidence in any court you may end up in. I should also urge boaters to write to Reading's Mayor (Councillor Rose Williams) and ask why she's demanding £9.50 for boaters to stop for a few minutes.

I suspect they won't be in court to ask.
the advice us to get it transferred to your local court as most can't be bothered to travel. they try and convince you it's cancelled and then they win by default.

It's unlikely that you will ever know the financial arrangements as that would be considered commercially confident. A FOI request might produce some results if carefully worded - might show up whether CRT actually pay any outside enforcement company to monitor and/or enforce short term mooring arrangements but see if anyone here has advice on wording i.e. Allan/Nigel (detailed discussion if it happened would be best by PM). Many/some of these contracts used to be cost neutral or a revenue earner for the landowner. It has proved possible, in the past, to obtain details of C&RT's contractual arrangements (as opposed to financial arrangements) in the case of waste disposal. www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/biffa_waste_collection_contractNo idea who Alan Pritchard is

Reading Borough Council comes in for some more flack:
"Piss off RBC. My red bin hasn’t been emptied for now 8 weeks due to contamination. Contamination was rife back in the day when you didn’t give a flying fuck what crap was in it. Contamination is an envelope with Anthrax powder in it not a bloody plastic lid on a bottle in the wrong bin. Two people came out and went through the bin with my husband , moved the few items out and said the bin would be emptied. Fast forward to two weeks later and boom!! Still full. Called again to be told it’s still contaminated and won’t be emptied. When we said we went through the bin with a council official who said it would be emptied my husband was told by Mr Polish ( no one will let us have his name) they shouldn’t have promised that!!
Have to wash rubbish to recycle. You shitting me. RBC I work 8am to 6.30pm in Farnborough - not your piss poor whimsical 9-5 (would happily wash rubbish and dry it - if I worked their part time hours) I don’t have time to wash my rubbish. Get a life!
There was a time when people who didn’t pass the grade for the police force became traffic wardens. Now, they just work for RBC!!
And while I’m ranting the earliest thing that was recycled was glass and surprise surprise, RBC don’t cater for that. Nope, but they are able to deal with anything I wash up first.
You just keep on putting up my charges though and giving me nothing for it. Money grabbers
No wonder flytipping is rife and to be honest it’s only going to get worse with these type of little hitler rulings !!
