What stuff do you think Kris cares about which you think doesn’t exist then? That CRT has an agenda to eliminate all live aboard CCers. It's a policy that they obviously do not publicise. Privately, CRT, along with the IWA would like to see an end to liveaboard boat owners. They would also like to rid the waterways of boats with no home moorings. Although they do not make this policy public, they look at all sorts of ways to make it difficult for those without home moorings. I've attended plenty of meetings where feelings have been expressed, and quickly then been withdrawn. The fact is nick, you know fuck all about how CRT minds work, 1, because you dont give a fuck anyway, and 2, because you have never met any of them. Your just a bullshittes, and time and time again, your shown up to be the Muppet you set out to be.

Bollocks. Stop. Think. Housing or at least somewhere to go when it rains and gets cold is a basic requirement for a human being to survive due to the way humans have evolved - particularly in colder parts of the world. Its not something you can choose to either have or not have. Arguably it's not as important as food but it gets pretty close. I sometimes wonder why people with excessive wealth don't systematically empty all the supermarkets and sell the food for profit. maybe they are not allowed to ? As I said its never going to change. Turkeys voting for Christmas ? Stop and think, with or without your testicles. Successive governments, democratically elected, have failed to build housing for people of no or low income. Into that vacuum have stepped private landlords. These landlords only put their cash into housing because the people’s governments fail to do so. Would it please your principles and self proclaimed moral high ground if private landlords didn’t exist and all those who currently live in such accommodation were out on the street sleeping in a doorway? I am sure they would praise you for it. The property investor factor has created around half a million empty homes in the UK. Many investors don’t seem to want the risk of having people living in their property. This effect creates even more demand and gives landlords. who do take a risk, an excuse to pump the rent up even more. Personally. I can’t see the attraction of living in a big city, but clearly the demand is there and some will pay through the nose for it. I suppose the more people on the street. the more risk there will be to those who push this capitalist system. Nature has a habit of balancing things out.

It does seem like people who this doesn't effect and don't care about it have an awful lot to say about it.

You are conflating two unrelated things and getting yourself all confustipicated. I agree that property speculation / banking in London and a few other places has pushed up prices and resulted in a lot of empty or rarely used homes. Mostly these are foreign-owned and funded by dodgy money. This is bad. So if there was a policy to disallow foreign ownership of property for anyone not permanently resident in U.K. I would think this a good thing. But that is nothing to do with private investors putting their capital into providing a much needed service that governments over the years have declined to provide.

You can ridicule and dismiss what I say as much as you like. But the facts are that cart need defra to prepose any changes to the waterways legislation. Well the group talked about in the article I linked to is the kind of group that preposals for legislation change will come from. The situation in London is the perfect excuse to force a change in the legislation. Saying I told you so in about two years time when it happens won't bring me any satisfaction

But this has very little to do with the topic of the thread.

It doesn’t matter what the reason is, what matters is that some people do what the government won’t do, which is to provide housing for the renting sector. Clearly you are envious of people who through their own hard work have money to spare, but it would be very mean spirited of you if you wanted them eliminated and all the people whom they provide homes for, out on the street just to satisfy that envy.

But this has very little to do with the topic of the thread. Yes a few have, mostly in London where the property market is totally fucked up. They make the news of course. But the vast majority of private landlords, myself included, merely provide a much needed service for people not wanting to buy a home. If it wasn’t for people like you voting time and again for governments who refuse to build adequate social housing, there wouldn’t be a need and it wouldn’t be a sound investment.

I’ve no doubt that some in the IWA and CRT would quite like to get rid of liveaboards, well the ones constantly whinging about how hard done by they are, how THEY are conspiring against them and how generally, it’s all SO UNFAIR. But that doesn’t mean it going to happen. I’d quite like to have my writhing naked body coated in chocolate sauce and licked off by a bunch of lithe fit young men, but that probably ain’t going to happen either. SO UNFAIR!

So you think I'm envious ..... ah well, that is why I normally ignore your posts, your first reaction to anyone questioning your thinking, is to insult ..... I think you are easily confused, especially about your importance in the scheme of things. If they really wanted to be philanthropic (rather than just making a large return on their capital) they should have built almshouses, you are trying to make them sound like the saviours of the oppressed

so all the buy to let landlords are in the bussines to help people who don't want to buy property??? Bullshit most people would like to buy a house but they have been priced out of the property market because of people buying more than one property to rent out.

No one except you said anyone wanted to be philanthropic. As you say, they want a safe return on their investment. No doubt that offends the Communist in you, but it is just as well they do or there would be massively more homeless people. People would be unable to move to a new job, the economy would suffer, Do you get it yet? (Probably not).

Bullshit most people would like to buy a house but they have been priced out of the property market because of people buying more than one property to rent out. You might think people do it out of philanthropy, but then you are fairly dim. The point that I went to some length to explain and yet you are too stupid to remember, is that many people specifically don’t want to buy a house, for various reasons including having a short term job somewhere, or just not wanting the hassle. In my personal case I didn’t buy a house until I was 32, not because I couldn’t afford it but because I didn’t want to. After a couple of years renting in Aberdeen I got posted to Borneo for a year, another year back in Aberdeen and I’d had enough and took 2 years off to be a gliding bum, then got a 1year job near Elgin, before finally “growing up” at age 32, settling back to being a pilot for ever more in Aberdeen and buying a house. In the mean time I was pleased that other people had the spare cash to provide me with rented accommodation, not envious.
