Are you still talking about buy to let?Who would have thought it ey, mister right on Jim is a slum lord. One simple law would help the homeless situation " don't allow anyone to own more than one residential property."

I remain in awe of Saint Nick of the waterways, patron saint of renters People with money who wish to invest will always consider property. It's the nearest thing to a certainty there is. Altruism and philanthropy don't come into it, as Nick's already said. We own our own home but elected not to rent, as it IS our home. Wherever there is a ready market, someone will seek to benefit. That is the nature of our capitalist free market economy. It's the poor sods without any kind of stake I feel sorry for. Rog

One simple law would help the homeless situation " don't allow anyone to own more than one residential property." I think when interest rates start to revert to the long-term norm this will largely ameliorate the situation as it will offer higher rates of return on money invested in bonds and at the same time put downward pressure on property values. I have no vested interest either way but I do think a higher proportion of owner-occupation would be better for society than a large proportion of housing being owned by private landlords.

What I really object to is the fact it is plebs who are the landlords. Its ok for the gentry to do this sort of thing but policies encouraging this sort of thing being done by plebs will lead to pleb-on-pleb difficulties and cause rifts in society which will be awkward to deal with. War is unpalatable.
It does not affect me because I have never and will never own any land or property but I still think it is a problem which needs sorting.

All was fine until the plebs were allowed to own boats.

It must be difficult when you've had such a responsible job to wake up and realise that the only thing your responsible for now is controlling your own bowls and your not even capable of that.

I’m quite good at plate spinning but I have to admit I’ve never tried it with bowls. Oh sorry, did you mean those sort of bowls? No never been very good at rolling balls so they stop in the right place.
