I had to go and fetch some gear from our mooring at Titchmarsh. This lovely old wooden boat was on the visitors mooring.   I've seen it a few times over the last few years, must be a big labour of love keeping her up together. I then spied Pieces on the slip  She is an ex ship's lifeboat and was built at Northampton Boat Club by an experienced boater who knew the river like the back of his hand - at one time she could get from Northampton to Peterborough without having to drop the screen (the EA have put a stop to that but that's another story!) She would however keep me up at night having not had the love she deserves over the last 10 years or more from subsequent owners.  Hot tar and tin sheet self tappers or roofing bolted into place keep the wet out. She has also had a good bit if concrete poured in the bilge  |

Can't be too bad if it's still going up and down the river.
I would prefer a nackered boat which gets used to an all singing all dancing shiny thing which never gets tied to a mooring pin.
Does look like its days are numbered though to be fair.

Does look like its days are numbered though to be fair. That's the trouble. She never moves. It's got a two pot Volvo in it and goes well on naff all juice. Absolutely crying shame she's been neglected and had so little use. Mrs Gazza loves the idea of having her, it would give me nightmares and probably end up in the divorce courts if I tried to save her! |

Must say I thought looking at the location it was a visitor.
Ok i'll change my view. Its a pile of shite they should do it for overstaying and scrap it and put the engine on eBay.

One of two things I do with boats is count the number of windows. For some reason this dominates my thinking when looking at boats. Those two boats seem to have 3 windows on the side therefore I see them as the same boat.
Oops just zoomed in on the cruiser and it seems to have 4.
That will be the beer then. And the phone. Must get new phone.

This one is a little way from the river!  I've a vague recollection it was one of the last boats down at Thrapston Mill Marina, it came adrift in a winter flood and was lodged against the old midland railway bridge. looks like it will keep someone busy for a while! |
