NB. I assume that "jerry-rigging" is your self-descriptive version/adaptation of the phrase "jury-rigging", . . "jerry" being, in your useage, 'jerry' as in ''a piss-pot'' ? So English Language is another subject which isn't one of your strong points? NetLingo The Internet Dictionary jerry-rig To create or fix something in an unconventional way, just so it works for the time being. I would suggest that "jerry rig" is a bastardisation of the original nautical term "jury rig" I have not looked it up but as far as I am aware a jury rig was a way of erecting an emergency mast. Somewhat more serious than experiencing engine problems on a ditch where there is land within sight. Eta I did wonder if "shit-for-brains" might work as a joke name for you but I think sticking with Mrs Tabby is less offensive !

Certainly it is an expression in wide use in the south and midlands, and one which I imagine any engineer in the country would understand. Tony Dunkley may not have heard of it, but then he was once famously described on CWDF by somebody who had met him as "a knob head through and through".

There I was innocently believing that he was suffering from Old Git Syndrome !
To be fair I think you will find that mention of cwdf may put you in the firing line and some people may suggest the advice you have received is worthless.
Its a bit of an awkward situation because without meeting a person in person personally I don't think its that easy to form a judgement.
A classic example is that someone told me jenlyn is a dickhead but he might be a perfectly nice bloke in real life.

Yes. I like that sort of giggle.
Also quite liked Bernard Manning but that could be a rather more acquired taste !

I'm heading down the hanwell flight tomorrow, so you will have a chance to find out won't you.

Just take care with the weed around Southall. It has been known to stop boats in their tracks.
I wonder if you can deal with it and successfully make it to top locks.

Fantastic, how much do they want for a nine-bar? We buy it in IBC's - used to get it delivered by road tanker into 20000l storage vessels. I'm not familiar with your unit of measurement 🤔

I have met him and also talked with him several times and the person who posted that, was obviously referring to himself ( or herself) rather than Mr Dunkley.
