In my narrowboat days (70's) I don't remember being worried about my windows except for the East End and the run through to the Lea. Particularly the turn into Duckets in Viccy Park .... the little b..terds used to wait on the bridge and throw things at you to try and make you cock up that tight turn

When I was selling my boat November before last (5m long, fibreglass, seaworthy, 20hp Evinrude) I got silly offers - I didn't even reply to the text messages offering 1,000 Euros (price was 2,000). I've looked at other ads for boats and have been shocked at the daft prices, so wasn't going to budge. Then a man phoned up, an hours' car journey away, said he'd come round to have a look tomorrow evening - but it's dark, then, says I. Anyway, I rigged up a couple of lights in the yard, he saw what it was, inside we went through all the paperwork (service history of engine, etc.) and he bought it there and then. He knew what it was and had the money. And he has ended up with a good boat (cottage on edge of lake Oulujรคrvi).
Sometimes you get sensible people WITH money. I'm surprised it didn't go straight away - you must be advertising it in the wrong places. When we moved to Finland we took a car load of stuff to get rid of it at a car boot sale - we'd sold 50% before we even removed all the boxes from the car!! People see 'fresh stuff' arrive and home in like the vultures they are.
Perhaps people are scared to come to Rufford with the knowledge that 'Big Bob' works there.
