M&S food is a bit expensive. Its probably better to go boating as much as possible and eat worms.
Eta I believe M&S is on an expansion mission trying to compete with other express type supermarkets. And they have Ocado brand now apparently.

I'm not sure the price is something that will fit in with the local area.

We go to an M&S food store on a newish small shopping centre in Selly Oak Brum.We get loads of reduced food bargains each week, great stuff. You would not get these bargains at the M&S stores in the Brum or Merry Hill biggg shops. We have named ourselves the yellow labellersπ.Loads of meals are at least half price & cheese/butter is always silly money-ie Β£2.40 cheese for 80p.We love a bargain.PS put 4 packs of Lurpack butter in the freezer at 65p a pack.π

On Canvey the Morrisons was really good with massively reduced short life stuff (but another branch 5 miles away never had such big reductions). None of the other supermarkets on Canvey made anything like as big a reduction on short date code stuff ..... been a member of your yellow label club for ages just to add, sometimes the meals for a tenner at M&S are a good buy, especially when it's a chicken. One day roast dinner. one day cold with hot veg, one day cold with chips and two days proper homemade chicken soup.

"A bus was left stranded in water after a driver misjudged a road flooded by the high tide.
Witnesses said the Stephensons' bus, which was travelling from Southend to Paglesham, overtook a queue of traffic and went into the water during high tide at Wallasea Island, Essex, on Saturday.
Emergency services attended and helped rescue the driver and single passenger who were unhurt.
Witness Ann May said the driver "completely misjudged it and went into the creek", adding it was "totally unbelievable".
The bus company said an investigation was under way."
First thing I'd like to know is nationality of the driver - another cheap, flawed import? And will we ever hear the results of the investigation or the truth? Unlikely. Anyway, who is to say the driver 'misjudged it'? Sometimes you just can't tell what the best course of action is - get the sack from a nasty employer and lose your income leading to your wife leaving you and you ending up sleeping on cardboard outside WH Smiths, or take a risk?

Just an update on George's sunken boat on the K&A. One boat seems in good shape but the other still has pumps running. I've not seen the latest on Facebook. It's a shame but I suppose it's a long process for someone with no money, I wonder how long CRT will give him.

Reasonable people are going to be pissed off with the amount of shite on the land bordering the towpath (which is a footpath). Eta before peter bargemast jumps on me I would just point out that this is clearly not a boat adapted for living on

I'm between two fires here, on the one hand I feel empathy for George in his straitened circumstances, and on the other hand I feel that if one person is allowed to conduct himself like this then everybody should be able to and the canal network will simply turn into a 2,000 mile long pikey camp.

Always the same .... you feel sympathy but also know it can't be tolerated because of the ultimate cost.
That's the trouble with the bleeding hearts ..... they don't think things through to the logical conclusion.

And to think our insurance company wants a hull survey every 5 years! No insurance = no CRT licence! And then they'll be coming to grab our boat!
How does George get away with this, yet the Polish bloke Andrzei with his caravan-boat in London isn't? Perhaps Andrzei should be asking this?!

3rd party insurance does not need a survey. The owner self declares that the vessel is in good condition. Insurance includes wreck removal costs.
In this case I suspect the owner would be subject to payment of said costs as boat clearly is not in good condition.
