I was thinking this afternoon of dogless's remark about uncouth language putting people off visiting Thunderboat. I have had a sign up by the computer saying 'No Swearing', which I have studiously ignored, but now I have put a ring round it in red ink, with the intention of cleaning up my act. So, you see, sometimes things can work out for the best!

I wondered about this as well so I asked my woman and children. The woman said "fuck off!" The older daughter said "what the fuck?" And the younger daughter said "for fuck's sake!".
So I had a sit and think and I thought "fuck that".
So in a nutshell I won't stop swearing. Anyone looking at my previous input on this forum will notice that I always sweat in virtually every post. Its in my nature. You can't change nature.

I think he is right as well ...... the odd swear word used for comic effect or occasionally for an extreme moment when nothing else will suffice is not too bad, after all it is an adult audience, immoderate bad language is not as effective as a proper description of the mindboggling stupidity of those with the wit of a lobotomised chimpanzee, the physical attractiveness of a diseased warthog, halitosis listed by the UN as a weapon of mass destruction and the general charm of a rabid skunk.

Eloquently put.. I try not to swear but the odd profanity has filtered into some posts..but I will now clean up my act...No more iffy words and instead I will endeavour to use descriptive image provoking words..better keep off the vino until post posting time..

I don't think its helpful to talk about Mr stabby like that. I was just wondering how Vince was getting on with his job as we passed his boat today. (I knew it was his boat as he uses lorry straps to tie his boat up)

I think totally avoiding the use of certain words because they are "swear" words is missing the point.
The incident that sparked Rog's microflounce was direct personal abuse rather than the use of specific words.
It would be a great pity if we have to avoid such alliterative gems as "the fucking fucker's fucking fucked". This is completely inoffensive, except perhaps to my mum who doesn't read the forum anyway.

Or this: "It’s a pile of steaming shite and I have never seen it. I never let experience get in the way of certainties." Oops!

Or this: "It’s a pile of steaming shite and I have never seen it. I never let experience get in the way of certainties." Oops! ‘Shite’ is acceptable in the same way the Irish use the word ‘feck’. It has the same impact without actually swearing...OR DOES IT? Hmm...let’s all mass debate over that one...

The incident that sparked Rog's microflounce was direct personal abuse . I'm intrigued about this because I don't think anyone actually sent insults directly at dogless. OK so if he is an angler then some people think he is odious scum who should fuck off and die but other than that did anyone actually do anything offensive ? lollygagger has already raised this but as he is such a lazy fucker he probably can't be arsed to get involved in this sort of fucking shit. Life is too fucking long for that.

uncouth language putting people off visiting Thunderboat. Do the slimy Indians and immigrants agree with that feeling as well?

Its very unusual to see <word removed>s on boats. I have always been surprised by this despite the fact all the wogs* have turned up since Tiny Blur did his shit they still don't like boats. *just for dogless-my kids are the only white kids in their classes. I am happy with this they are children . I reserve the right to take the piss of immigrants and use offensive terms. I'm sure they (the wogs) do the same. Without humour what do we have left ?

Do the slimy Indians and immigrants agree with that feeling as well? When I went with the woman to register the birth of our second daughter who was born in Tower Hamlets I was a bit concerned that all the noticeboards were covered in posters about scam marriages. I'm not interested in scam marriages. I want to register the birth of a child born in England land. And I'm English. Maybe it is because the woman was a bit woggy.
