An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 has been recorded in a county hit by a series of tremors, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has confirmed. The epicentre was near the town of Oakham in Rutland, in the East Midlands, at 22:40 BST on Tuesday.

2.8 ?? a fleabite ...... now the Great Essex earthquake was 4.3 !!! (though possibly not as big as the Dover earthquake in the 16th century)

This is what our foreign aid budget should be for. I see there are tv appeals for donations once again, yet we continue to dole out billions around the world to less deserving causes. I am sure the plane load of aid we have sent will make a huge difference.

Don't talk to me about TV appeals. I made a donation on Thursday to the Sky appeal; fine until I started getting requests from the world and his dog, gŕrrr I don't have that much spare cash Puts you off donating in future Phil

I've stopped all my monthly donations via bank now. Too much harrassment, especially the RNLI. I donate in a more ad hoc way now and mostly to local causes, hospice, air ambulance, British Legion, Sally Army, etc. I guess I've become more cynical in my old age.

I wonder if the "justgiving" parasites are sniffing about for some more cash.
I applaud good causes but I hate when people jump onto it and grab commission.

All my clothes come from charity shops. Other than pants n socks. They don't usually sell those. I've never bought any clothes new. Never. Its a good way to give to charity and revive something useful.
