we have just sold our boat, and we are looking for another, because of my disability we would like one with a side hatch so I can see out , but the problem is,there is none out there, all the ones we like are sold or deposit taken, just the tu*ds are left...Ihave never known boats sell so well, the marinas are crying out for boats to sell. so what do we do, wait till later in the season, or keep on searching,I have got boat withdrawal symtems . hilda

Keep on looking I suppose... boats are selling like hot cakes at the moment because of the Tim and Pru effect and people being able to get their hands on their pension funds at 55.

Why not just buy one without and have one fitted?

Just picking up on the technicalities, I'm not clear how a hatch allows you to see out better. Surely windows can be just as low as a hatch? Better perhaps to get a boat with a raised dinette so you are sitting higher. Alternatively there are those boats like the Napton Narrowboats one that have a lowered gunnels / large windows in the saloon area. Or just a boat with low-to-the-water gunnels and correspondingly taller cabin sides. A problem with a hatch is that it has to be open for you to see out, not the best situation in the dead of winter or when is raining. Yes you can have a Perspex filler I suppose but that will still be cold in winter.

What exactly are you looking for? length, style etc.. and what is your budget? Someone here might know of something.

This guy is a forum member on CWDF and has done work for forum members and seems to have a very good reputation. One of the things he does is add side hatches to boats that don't already have them. www.kedianengineering.co.uk/index.html

Not by any chance a 50' NB cruiser stern in dark blue, maroon and cream stripes and a cream roof with the Stenson logo SB laser cut into the steel? Last seen speeding away from Mercia at a heady 4mph with all the CWDF detectives in hot pursuit??
Good luck with the new purchase!
