In the great Capitalist tradition the best value quote, the CHEAPEST got the work. If you pay cheap, you GET cheap. Or as our european friends the French say, pay cheap, buy twice! It's a funny one ....... government project versus private venture hoping to make a profit ...... R100 versus R101 sometimes works the other way Indeed it does Johnv. Quite well covered by Neville Shute in his autobiography Slide Rule. Maybe I should have used the term “Management “ cos they no everything!!!

Thanks Donks! Nemesis is right, the human brain just can't comprehend the immenseness of the universe. Or time. Or how small atoms are. However, there are some clever people about, and we might work it all out before the human race just gets snuffed out. Hurry - there's a big meteorite approaching!

Lost in Space (1960s TV series) much better than Hitch Hiker's Guide. Dark Star movie fairly amusing. Sub atomic particles do move faster than the speed of light (positive and negative bosons for instance when forced to spin in the opposite direction) so nipping across to Alpha Centauri for your fags because they're 4d cheaper than on Jupiter may indeed be just round the corner shop. I can't agree. 'Lost in Space' is a little bit interesting from the perspective that it is slightly divergent from the standard 50s fare of bad-tempered aliens coming to get us but apart from that the plot-lines are as predictable as Tellytubbies. I once heard it said by somebody clever (I cannot recall who) that it can be demonstrated, using pure mathematics, that it is possible to move faster than light. It must be one hell of a sum. I'm still struggling with secondary port calculations. Do you know that 'Star Trek' was originally commissioned by the CIA in order to draw attention away from the fact that the Apollo programme had been cancelled? Great link Donkey.

Hmm, how can anybody prove that if the moon landings occurred or not? Well, you could get a really powerful telescope and take some pictures. But somebody will say 'it’s a fake'. So you could go to the moon yourself and see the base of the 'lunar interface module' and a moon rover or two. But somebody will say 'you're lying'. I hate that guy. The best conspiracy theories tend to have a fairly high degree of credibility because it is next to impossible to ‘prove’ anything one way or the other. Obviously, you can’t ‘prove’ a falsehood. My personal favourite is the notion that Roosevelt allowed the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour to occur. It is of course complete piffle, but if it were true the implications are quite thrilling. Most proponents of conspiracy theories I have encountered tended to have been unwashed, dope-smoking law-breaking twats who seemed to me to be making every attempt to prove that the world is a corrupt and cynical place (which to some extent it of course is) in order to justify their anti-social and often criminal behaviour. After all, if the government is corrupt, why shouldn’t I behave any way I like? For every objection the theorists have about 'proving' the moon landings were faked, there is a very rational explanation to the contrary. If you bother to look. As you are probably aware there is no telescope powerful enough to see that far. Nasa's Lunar Reconnassance Orbiter has sent pictures back of all the landing sites, but as that is American the conspiracy theorists will say they are fake as well. What was a surprise to me is that China has landed craft on the moon, the latest one on the far side contains a rover which will explore the area. That must be a cue for Pink Floyd links

Was it an SD1, I had 2 of those.

Did yer know the Rover developed straight 6 was capable of topping the output of the 3500cc Buick derived V8 - the idiots in charge at British Leyland overruled the Rover men and hamstrung both cars from the get go😡

Wow! 70's synth at its finest! That video in no way shape or form does the music any justice at all! It is probably just as well it's only a fag paper over two minutes - any more and your teeth are likely to start itching 😁😄🙈
