I reckon no.47 covers it "on any canal" presumably includes on a boat. What's it to do with you anyway? You should join naughtyfox on licence snitching patrol.

I reckon no.47 covers it "on any canal" presumably includes on a boat. But that is about affixing signs to the canal and it’s infrastructure, not to boats on the canal.

It is but I reckon "on any canal" would include on a boat.

However the word "exhibit" is also used.
No person shall exhibit a sign on a canal.
De facto the boat is on the canal quod erat demonstrandum so I feel this is not ultra vires.

Exhibit - on or in any canal. A notice on a boat isn’t on or in any canal, it is on or in a boat. By your interpretation, working boats would not be allowed to display their company name etc, which clearly wasn’t the case.

Saw one the other day: "master boaters pass at 2mph. Masturbaters pass faster." Just came up Stanley Ferry at 4mph, its deep and wide, my boat draws .5 mtr. So only ripples were reaching the bank, boats were hardly mooring, still got a shout, "should be at tickover". Nonsense. Then went by 10 fishists on the river, 3/4 way across the river to give them room, one still had a whinge. What is it with Yorkshiremen? Yorkshire men can recognise a clown when they see one Rog

Well if you read it you will find that consent may be sought from the board so I suspect that carriers were given permission. However if you had a sign on the boat saying "Massage parlour" it would not be authorised and therefore contravene the bye laws. In the same way that someone putting a notice on a boat referring to their own or other people's behaviour "I am a wanker' or "you are a wanker" would be disallowed. The bye law is not a ban on signage it is a ban on unauthorised signage and advertising. No mention is made of sign writing on boats anyway and most carriers would have details written on cabin sides. The topic was a person placing a "sandwich board" on top of their boat. This contravenes bye laws unless consent has been given by the bored.

As good a mantra to live your life by as any. 👍🍻

What is it with Yorkshiremen? when I was coming down the top section of the river Hull, there were two fishists sat on the bank watching me approach...... no getting their lines in, they just sat and watched me approach and then started waving and shouting get to the otherside and desperately bending the tops of their rods sideways so the hull didn't bash them. The river there is less than 20 feet bank to bank and Sabina is 16'6" beam ........ muppets !!

Why, thank you sir! Are you "local"? Currently having a coffee at the Hepworth, in our favourite seat. Daughter has come to visit, so instead of getting train home tomorrow, we get a lift home today, got a bit of work at weekend, garden fruit and veg to pick, back as soon as we can next week. Boat is at Fall Ing. We may well the head towards Sheffield, to inspect Torchy the Battery Boy's Boat on the way. What's the craic with that peterboat?
