There are some numptys on the water. Im sat in doors and i feel a clunk as a boat makes contact with my boat. So i poked my head out ofthe hatch to see whats happening. A narrowboat is reversing into the space infront of me, hes made contact with my boat and from the angle his boat is at its obvious hes going to contact again. So i just said to him (politely) your going to hit again, he proceeded to scrape the whole length of his boat down one spot on my boat. Ffs. Fair enough he said sorry, but if you cant get into a space without hitting the boats near it then moor somewhere else. The thing that really annoys me, is if id done the same to them id be public enemy number one. Anyway rant over.

It's those magnets ... some boats just HAVE to moor really close to other boats Rog To be honest, because my boat is a bit scruffy(dont tell foxy.) They think it doesnt matter. I think he actually used my boat to stop himself. You should see the looks i get from shiny narrowboat owners when i go to moor near them. Anyway ill remember his boats name and that i owe him a scrape.

Your boat may look scruffy, but that's no valid excuse for doing damage, I would make an insurance claim, and get the bottomplating checked, as one never knows what other damage this scraping boat has caused, that's obiously visible, but also unexpected invisible damage that these shiny narrowboats can do. Better safe than sorry, get the bottom plating redone on the scrapers insurance, that'll teach him. Peter.

I think your boat is tough enough to take it! What pissed me off in Stratford was a hire boat with a twat on the front with cabin shaft, poking and prodding other boats as they tried to turn round in the basin. Now I wouldn’t mind if it was below the gunnels, but he was poking his pole against our expensive sign writing half way up the cabin sides. I explained to him that the paint job cost about £8000 and it would be a pity if we had to get it done again. I think he got the message. I did think of following him back to the hire base and prodding his car paintwork with our shaft to see how he liked it, but in the end couldn’t be bothered.

To be honest what is the most annoying is if i had done the same to them, they would have been up in arms amd wanting to claim off my insurance.

Bang on the money with that, Bargey, let the scamming insurance companies fork out, and who cares if the twat loses his bonus. Although, to be fair, if contact is made at a slow speed, I think that's sort of OK. it could have been windy, for instance. We have had trouble 'getting off' other boats when the wind has been blowing hard.

At Stokesby Ferry Inn last week a hire boater hit the landlady's boat leaving its mooring.
It was moored about 100 feet in front of it and the river must be at least the same wide at that point.
I have no idea how the hell they managed to do it.

You're thinking like me, but I would make the effort to be bothered. What an absolute tosser. I would have taken photos and informed all the other boat owners.

So glad the deep drafted boat that today I scraped alongside in order to pick up a rope to help pull them off the mud in near gale force winds didn't decide to try claiming from my insurance....

The scraper may have manage to bend the prop on Kris's boat too, one never knows the real damage a scrape can do, get it checked now that he's still there to sign his papers admitting what he did to your boat. Peter.
