What's a scart connection? Assuming that is a genuine question. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCARTNow regarded as pretty well obsolete after the introduction of HDMI which has the ability to carry higher quality images and sound, and is more compact and neater.

See, I have a telly, I plug the aerial in, plug the power lead in, switch it on, bingo! I have t.v. That's unless I'm in a crappy reception area, which does happen. I don't see the need for any further connection slots.

We don’t have a smart tv on the boat, but we do have a smart satellite box which allows access to BBC iPlayer. Very handy if we miss Eastenders due to no visibility of the satellite (trees etc). Jeff and I both have iPhones with 30Gb data a month each which we can tether to the box, so we can watch a moderate amount of catchup without fear of running out of data. Also gives us Netflix and with the “Go binge” deal on Three, we can watch as much Netflix as we like without it using any of our data allowance.

Jane's bought hdmi leads to connect the digital recorder to a new Sharp Smart tv bought at Tesco for £200. So she'll be able to try using her phone and our mobile wifi to use the 'smart' facility should she wish. I'll stick to my valve set Rog

Relax ... the tv at home is the subject of the thread.
A simple 12v Cello at the boat, but we rarely use it.
Life afloat is very different to life at home for us.

We've spent the last fourteen years living on the boat for nine months of each year. We live a very low tech, simple life on the boat, apart from using the tablet and coming here. Consequently our 'stuff' at home has become quite dated, although little used. The rate of development of modern technology, it is not surprising we've got left behind a little. We had the phone removed from home the first year, as the standing charges were quite expensive, we were rarely home, and we both had mobiles anyway, so we've never got into the whole 'broadband' and cable tv issues. I suppose deep down I'm more a candles, wireless and good book man ... oh and a glass of something jolly pleasant Rog
