A two week course at the Ronald McDonald Clown School learning how to juggle, wear oversized shoes and run around blowing a honk horn isn't "higher education". No but the 3 years getting a teaching qualification does. And 2 years doing A levels. How many CSEs did you get? What's this, an education boastfest?

Well, if it is my Operator's CPC is an RSA level three qualification and according to the London School of Economics is equivalent to two A levels, and I sat and passed it in nine days.

It seems a fair few complaints have been sent to the mag, would be interesting to find out how they respond. Personally I'd be delighted if he lost his job. Not just because of his actions; his response suggested an arrogance that's highly distasteful. Plus he has a horrible drawling southern accent. I realise that the last bit is a personal bias of mine but none of us are perfect, right? The one time I have a look without logging in and Clinton Cool very nearly redeems himself with this post, have a biscuit would be infantile; have a like instead 👍

Having read through this thread I have to say anyone with the remotest sympathy for Steve Haywood is as big a bellend as Steve. He had ample time to steer away from the mooring, he had ample time to stop. He intentionally endangered the crew of his boat and the cruiser along with wilfully damaging the cruiser using might is right as his excuse (along with being a tosser as an excuse for such behaviour) His boating skills and decision making have been shown to be piss poor by this video, as bodger mentioned, the correct approach would have been to round up and moor on an upstream approach - he was too busy trying to claim a spot he had no entitlement to preventing him from making a sound decision. The rest speaks for itself. I mean, even naughtyfox one long wonder would have had guts enough to stop in time without making a dick of the person clutching the tiller.....

Yes of course. In such a situation we would have just thought 'fuck!' and carried on to another spot, I mean, all's fair in love and war and boating.
Back to a stone-cold boat, stove now ablaze and the chimney pumping carcinogens into the atmosphere but that's OK as the wind blows towards Sweden. No... I'm not angry that I wasn't awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (kicks teddy bear). A nicely-done little trip to DARTMOUTH via Paignton, out yesterday morning, back on the 1654 from Exeter. Steam train across the peninsula, past Agatha Christie's holiday house. An early start tomorrow into the sunrise; 14 wide locks to blast through.

I wouldn't send you to Great Haywood to pick up coal and logs for us, as you'd end up at Heywood (it's between Bury and Rochdale). I do hate it when you quote me. Whenever I see 'MJG has quoted you' I know it's bad news.

I do hate it when you quote me. Whenever I see 'MJG has quoted you' I know it's bad news. Then its quite simple, don't be a dickhead. Just think on, if you hadn't been an idiot and picked me up on a minor spelling error then there would have been no need to quote you. Simple, surely?

I think DMR from CWDF needs a trip to spec savers. - Quote "This forum can be very judgemental, I have spent a bit of time chatting to Steve and he appeared to be a decent and tolerant bloke. My take on this:
He was obviously heading for the mooring space but the plastic boat ignored this and went in and "stole the spot".
Its hard to judge distances from the camera, in fact its pretty hard in real life, but Steve believed there was space for two boats. The plastic boat crept forward a bit more than he expected reducing the space but he still thought he would fit, this is why he steers more tightly in as its now a tighter gap, its only at the last minute that he realises he will not fit, either due to an easy error of judgement or because the plastic boat was still drifting forward, this is why he suddenly steers away (maybe he should have done hard reverse but its a trad engine with a big flywheel? so maybe he was right).
We had a very similar situation in the spring when we were heading downstream into a spot and a hire boat suddenly went for the same gap, it can be tricky.
edit to say....watch that video again with a more open mind" Oh,oh perleassse.😒

What's this, an education boastfest? I sat and passed it in nine days. I had a similar experience following a trip to Hong Kong
