Don't watch much tv but I'll give it a try, you make it sound interesting.
Jane and I are downloading 'Still Game' a comedy series based in Glasgow ... very funny once you get to know all the characters.

I think perhaps we need more frothy female stuff so this thread is specifically for that. If you don’t agree just ignore me, I'm never offended. No equality crap or expressions of outrage regarding separatism please, just a case of vive la difference? Ill kick off with the question, is anybody else watching 'Escape To The Chateau'? I caught it about a fortnight ago and thoroughly expected to hate it, with its pretentious style and an exuberant leading lady with a penchant for stuffed Unicorns, I told myself it was rubbish. But stealthily it has gripped me and I now adore the larger than life Angel and her long suffering but incredibly devoted husband is utterly admirable. So funny at times too, magnet fishing in the moat looking for possible suits of armour was an enjoyable scene, two portly chaps in a Canadian canoe, wobbling and laughing their way out in the middle and all they found was a tack! Im green with envy for the huge moated French chateau and sit watching in awe as this energised couple tackle everything themselves. Granted they do have an army of devoted friends who help but there is no doubting the enthusiasm and love between the main couple Dick and Angela. Dick a dynamo of skills and hard work adores Angel and she respectfully gets her own way for her ideas and design. Some of the design is dubious such as the afore mentioned Unicorns but on the whole it all works in a rococo/baroque sort of way mixed with art deco and whimsy. I love it and am addicted. More 4 and with decent hour long episodes. Yes its a very enjoyable watch, we've watched all the previous series too.

She does, and Dick is great at seemingly turning his hand to just about anything that needs fixing or building..

I very rarely watch tv, I find most programmes either mindnumbingly dull or designed for people with the attention span of a newt. (that includes a lot of so called documentaries as well) I agree there are a (very) few well made programmes with decent content ..... but you have to watch a lot of garbage to find them.
I am just re-reading my David Baldachi books (decided they were worth a second read so I have kept them for the last few years but have decided it's now time to revisit and then get rid )
this will keep me amused for the next couple of weeks or so

More 4 and with decent hour long episodes. I've not watched this, I don't tend to watch renovation o.f property programmes...went through a nightmare with Horror House and its a real turn off for me. A never again scenario and don't want reminding though I guess there is no similarity at all between a chateau and a tiny Welsh mining cottage I like abandoned engineering and I also watched a few Forged in Steel programmes...I tend to enjoy those type of programmes but not to many of the latter as its a bit hyper for me. I do watch some of the dog rescue stuff. I find them upsetting as its horrible how cruel some folks are. Never watch soaps or dramas. If sons visiting we do occasionally watch a film he says I'll like(??) I tend to read a bit, write a bit and time just passes. Oh and thank you for starting a girly sorta thread..lets see how long it takes folk to de rail it!

I met Dick in the Army he was a colonel in the Royal engineers, he was a friend of Katy and Guy who was also a colonel in the engineers. Guy was made redundant and I think Dick was as well which is how Dick had enough dosh to do his first project on self sufficiency if you remember it? I really enjoy the series and so does Jayne, it takes real guts to take on these projects

Is this the fella with the huge handlebar moustache that used to have a programme about self sufficiency ?
Many years ago when I was still full time working we used to watch him building water wheels for hydro electricity.

A boating connection - He also made a program called Hungry Sailors which featured a rather lovely pilot cutter, the Amelie Rose. www.topsail-adventures.co.uk/

Ah right.
I like most programmes that Guy Martin makes ... he doesn't seem to get too tied up with 'presenting skills' etc. ... reading off scraps of paper etc.
I think it's the enthusiasm of these guys that sells the programme as well as the earthier subject matter.

Women are a complete and total mystery to me and one thing I've never understood is why, on jamrag adverts on the telly, their menstrual fluid is always the same colour as Bluecol anti-freeze.
