Salty water?
I went in a narrow boat in Newhaven years ago that wasn't yours was it ?
Agree about the massive increase in people living on canal boats since the 90s. It is a bit shocking and quite off-putting sometimes.

I ticked other because things have moved on Started boating at 8 with a PBK, sailed at school then got an inflatable with outboard. Sold that and got a 14ft marine ply day boat which I moored at Aylesbury in 76 then later went on trailer and travelled extensively from South Devon to Essex coast sold it in 82. 1979 bought 23ft marine ply cruiser next at Cosgrove for a year or so. 10 year gap followed then in 92 bought a narrow boat, sold it a year later and bought Idleness left the wife moved on board, In 2002 sold Idleness and bought barge Parglena lived on that for 10 years. 2012 sold Parglena and bought a house and narrow boat lived between the two, more on the NB, for the next 7 years. This year sold the house and bought a house in Devon and now just use NB when visiting family and for Holidays. Oh an there was another narrow boat, two river cruisers, a sailing boat, an inflatable and a sailing dinghy between 97 and 2017 just for fun So no longer a livaboard but managed from 93-2018......

I live aboard full time now (3 years in now) and has been mentioned (thanks folk) run my boat as a "live-aboard" experience... I Stress the "live-aboard experience" bit repeatedly when folk come along for a trip. I have to be licenced as a hotel but it's really a "come along and muck" in affair. .. Patty can vouch for that - even had her in the engine hole for a staged oil change AND took her down the river candlelit pump out lol.
It's the best thing I've ever done... even after a tough year (mum died and I'm mid divorce) I still LOVE my boat - I'm tied up for the winter (on electric) but keep nipping out for a night or so just to be moving... cabin fever can take over!!! Wow, Mark! You sure know how to treat a girl β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦.!!! Seriously, though, I'm in my 13th year living aboard as a genuine continuous cruiser (mostly solo) and my only regret is - I didn't do it sooner. β¦ Happy boating! met x p.s. However, bloody inverter is playing up tonight and I'd really appreciate someone to press switches and buttons in here while I'm down the engine hole!! If I had the means I'd be with you pressing the buttons..it would be more fun than... Brum on another childminding trip...

Old news to most here, but since Angela asks: Sold this three years ago - it went to a Finnish man who has a cottage on the the lake OulunjΓ€rvi a bit further north than us. This little boat has had us round the coast of southern Finland from Porvoo (and the Pellinki archipelago) to KemiΓΆ island, all through Sipoo, Helsinki, Espoo, Inkoo and Tammisaari. Also the west coast from Pietarsaari to Kalajoki, through Kokkola, Lohtaja and Himanka. And along many lakes, such as Kiuruvesi to Iisalmi to Manninka to Kuopio (lots of lakes with different names, all part of the northern Saimaa system), Lahti to Kuhmoinen to JyvΓ€skylΓ€ (lake PΓ€ijΓ€nne), Hirvensalmi to Kangasala (on lake Puula), Mikkeli to Puumala to Savonlinna (southern Saimaa system), Viitasaari to Sumiainen (lake Keitele), etc. It was a good sea-worthy boat but we were using it less and less because we bought this metal box which now takes up most of our holiday time and holiday money:

That's a shocking piece of boatmanship, BTW. π² I'll bet you are popping your head out yelling "slow down" at every boat cos your boat is rocking summat shocking. I hope you don't have a TB sticker on your boat. I wouldn't Moor a bus like that. It will upset @someboater no end.

What's wrong with using the side line whilst stopping for lunch on a canal where there are hardly any other boats on the move? Trent & Mersey east of Willington, as I recall. Teddy is from Leamington Spa household waste tip. Given him a new lease of life and adventure.
