Got back to the boat yesterday after all the repairs and found the shower pump not working. Every time I switch it on it trips the fuse. It is less than 2 yrs old so I thought maybe, as it hasn't been used since the break in end of sept it may just be locked so I stripped it down giving it a good clean but no joy. It is a Flojet. So I started looking around at new ones, can't believe the prices. I only use it to pump water from the shower tray less than a meter out the side rising about 14 inches. As long as it is 12v does it have to be anything special as I saw some seafloats at £20 & £50 which seemed plenty capable especially reading the reviews from users. Thanks in advance for any replies.

whale gulper is the waste pump of choice for most people ..... they are not the cheapest but seem to be by far and away the most reliable pump for the job. they are not worried by hair etc.

You're too good, John.
Sometimes patience runs thin....
Should be on another thread, I know, but hope the weather's not being too cruel to you (yet) again this weekend.
Keep safe x

When I met you both (and your lovely girls) back in September I quite liked you and was pleased to see you post in this forum - have been biting my tongue (or bestilling my fingers) for a long time in response to some of your previous posts but sometimes, just sometimes ..... Good luck!

Not sure what or indeed if I am doing wrong here? That post came across ok. Ask away about what you intended to do on the other posts - someone will be able to advise.

When you said you stripped it down was that the pump bit and/or the motor?
I wonder if it might be a problem with the brushes and commutator, or possibly wiring.
One of my pumps sticks sometimes. it's a Jabsco puppy and I'm sure it's the commutator but normally a thump with a piece of wood works.
Different type of pump.
Whale gulper as excellent as mentioned.

I checked power & that is ok. I just stripped down the diaphragm part and gave that a good clean. Done that before so was ok but not enough knowledge to check the rest Not heard or tried the thumping bit. I admit I am numpty but I just can't see why it needs a £140 pump to a few LTRs of water twice a day.

Jabsco puppy (rubber impeller type) pumps are ok for showers I have them on two of my boats they are reliable units. The other boat has a whale gulper which is a very good piece of equipment it has to be said.
It does seem odd that a shower would need complex pumping equipment. Another common option is a bilge pump mounted in a small sump arrangement.
When you say it's blowing the fuse all the time what size fuse is it ?
