A few good things which I hope will come out of the C19 scare.
Continued improvements in the natural environment.
More appreciation of the basics in life. Food, water, shelter, health, family, friends etc
More appreciation for those whose jobs directly relate to providing food, homes and health care (key workers).
Less wasted resources making and buying crap we don't really need.
Less uneccesery travel abroad and more holidays in country.
More working from home.
An increase in local self sustaining economies and a decrease in globalisation.
.....or will everything go back to how it was, self destruct.. ?

By Christmas it'll be back like it was. People eager for that, it's their normal. Maybe more office types will work at home...some of the time.

'health' - and don't forget the 'key workers' who are working in the education industry That includes me at 'the front', risking my life. The Queen should give me a medal or a knighthood or something. Without education we would all be dummies and helpless & hopeless. Did they say "key worker"? They were thinking "expendable".

Actually education is an interesting one. If more parents work from home then they could support their childrens education via the internet.
One big disadvantage to doing more from home is that we are social animals. I don't think it is mentally healthy to reduce the amount of social contact.
Pubs, clubs, play areas, sports matches, meeting places allow people to express their feelings mentally and physically. Keeping people couped up in a room all day will probably lead to some serious mental and physical issues as is not being allowed to hug your family and friends.

There might be a wave of early retiring? Some people have had a couple of months practice in fabulous weather and done the sums from a better perspective. One enlightening thing maybe noticing how much it costs to work in one way or another. I hope this does happen with all the expected longer term unemployment a tranche of self supporting early retirers could be helpful assuming their jobs don't disappear when they do.

I think this is where forums are flourishing and local FB pages. We have quite a good network here and any problem there is one lady whose co-ordinating responses and local firms to help. I know I'm fortunate to be where I am and its not been difficult...I miss my friends around the country particularly those who I cannot 'chat' online to. I dont do large social gatherings anyway..leave that to the who need it...Self Esteem seekers I hope we will continual to evolve and learn from this experience..we don't need all the plastic rubbish from China(however I still want shower door hinges!) Travel is something Im in mixed mind over..I really loved seeing S.America..or the animals and scenery and I'm not sure whether its right to go away anymore... I want to..want to see and experience the wonderful places (not cities or towns but the wide open spaces) and wildlife but should I?..possibly not.

Agree with most of the above. I think that once things settle down again, beyond the airlines offering cheap deals to keep their overstocked fleets of aircraft in the air things will return more or less to how they were 40 years ago i.e. only the rich will be able to afford to fly around the world. On a personal level this is sad, on the face of it, I really enjoyed taking 2 months away from the British winter and carrying out my number one passion: surfing. However, I can surf on these islands, just need to get myself a 5mm wetsuit. I've more or less come to terms with the likelihood that I won't fly ever again.
These islands have so much to offer, I'm sure others will start to think this way.
That's the end of the positives. In mainstream society current divides will broaden. The old vs. the young has been bubbling away for a while, this crisis can only result in this being ramped up a few notches. A new 'entitled' class has been born during the crisis, the key worker. Expect battles between key workers and non key workers. Also arguments as to who is a key worker. Much anger and bitterness amongst those who believe they are key, but not widely considered to be so. Governments, who spawned this new divide and nurtured it with campaigns such as 'clap for th NHS' will be virtually powerless, will not be able to resist the demands from all round for large pay increases for 'key workers'. Prices will go up, the key workers will be OK because of the large pay increases they've had but non key workers will just have to put up with it. They aren't key, so they don't matter. Unless of course they just happen to belong to one of the other, previously established, entitled groups.
Living in a society such as this doesn't appeal to me so I'll be very much on the edge of it, only dipping in when I really need to.

Ricco, you're getting carried away with your doom mongering. The economy will shrink this year because half of it's been closed for months. That is all. By next year it'll have grown by almost the same amount as the backlog of "stuff to do" gets done. A lot of people may be squeezed for a year and some notional tax rises no doubt but it's not like we'll ever pay the debt off so it'll be more like waving to it.

The end of the world is closer now than it was before this crisis.
When it does come armageddon outa here.
So that's one good result at least.

First this is not over, yesterday worldwide the increase in the virus was the biggest yet!! I would like the airlines to go bankrupt the price of diesel and petrol to be 5 squids a litre so we all go electric, I would like the production of electric to be by green methods and for it to be cheaper. At the moment the world is cleaning up long may it continue, I would also like the Chinese and the WHO to admit that the numbers that died in China were the 200K being reported and that if they had fessed up quick enough this worldwide disaster would never have happened. I dont want compensation I just want the people on this planet to realize how fragile it and us are, and to clean up our act before its to late for us

I for one, will be pretty happy if we can return to how things were three months ago. I suspect your right, the majority of folk will soon slip into there old ways. You see it already, queues at fast food outlets. Takeaways booming. Internet sales of the usual goods booming. Boats selling. Housing market returned. Cheap petrol for my old jap (crap)bikes. The younger, working generation want their fast food and foreign holidays. Why shouldn’t they? They work long and hard for their rewards.
