Thanks for the reminder - really MUST download the updated winter stoppages for this year eta - the previous list was NOT rushing to make any repairs to most locks I've seen this year (and beyond!) with serious "issues"....... At least half the 60 or so locks I worked through last week had at least one faulty paddle, many were short of a bit of grease too. CRT motto, don't fix it till it's all broke. I wonder if we all chipped in a few quid we might be able to buy you a large-ish tub of grease so you could lubricate them yourself as you passed by? Yes, I know you probably shouldn't have to but I regularly pick up litter, empty beer cans etc when I'm passing through a lock, wash signs which have become illegible through moss growth etc. I guess in a way I'm fortunate to be in the Midlands, an area CRT seem to focus on more than the northern waterways.

Because we still have a real commercial boat moving up here the locks seem to get repaired, other maintenance goes by the by and dredging has been going on for anti flood prevention

All the locks at Hillmorton have now been repaired according to the vlockie on twitter, he has been a little vocal about broken paddles over the summer on twitter so maybe this has helped, or as Stabby says because its in the Midlands and the busiest flight on the network they pull their finger out.

I note that the stoppages list contains plans to replace top and bottom gates on five GU locks and major repairs to a sixth, as well as repairs to bridges and a weir. Its all just talk till its done though.
