Thank you both for your concerns, John. I kept both phones off to save as much battery as possible. Once I'd managed to get hold of the laptop again after the scrummage that led to it getting damaged the thickies wouldn't let me back inside carrying anything in case I locked myself in with whatever I was carrying. To go back in for the phone chargers I would have had to leave the laptop outside, and there are no prizes for guessing where it would have probably ended up . . . so the phone chargers got left aboard I hope you have somewhere to stay and that this unpleasant event is resolved soon. I find it all quite horrible that CRT behave in this manner.... I'm OK thanks, Patty, . . there were numerous offers of help and temporary accommodation from various sources made soon after news of last Thursday's to-do started to get around. Sadly, C&RT's conduct in this instance is nothing out of the ordinary. One particularly disgraceful incident that comes to mind was that of a young woman suffering from Epilepsy living on a rented boat. Unbeknown to her the boat's owner was under threat of the boat being 'removed' under the Section 8 powers C&RT is so fond of wielding, and early one morning, with the woman still asleep on board, C&RT's boat snatching squad turned up and began towing the boat away to be craned out at some nearby location. Realizing, eventually, that there was someone on board, these delightful people called a temporary halt to the proceedings and with the watching approval of the van load of Police that C&RT had summoned for assistance, she was turfed out of the boat onto the towpath, and left there, with nothing but the clothes she had just put on. Having disposed of their unwanted passenger, Parry's heroes went on their way with the boat that until a few minutes earlier had been the woman's rented home. Some days later, the poor soul was found wandering around the area the boat was taken from, fitting and in a terrible state, and was taken to a local hospital for care and treatment. So much for the 'wellbeing' Trust, . . words alone can't come anywhere near to conveying the utter contempt I have for this organization and those who administer it !

Who are the Government ministers overseeing CRT? What are they doing about this sort of thing? There's nothing to stop people from going round their houses and turfing them out into the night in their pyjamas, and seeing how they like it.

In theory if you were dealing with an "honourable" organisation it would be ...... not good but so so. With CRT it's a bloody disaster

That is so sad to read the lack of care and compassion towards an innocent woman who rented a boat. The more i read the more I dislike this World that we live in.. The traumatic events far outweigh the good stuff.. I do hope you manage to resolve this to your satisfaction.

No mention has been made of the dainty dog that I understand lived aboard the vessel. I hope the dog wasn't towed away with the boat.
If the dog was aboard it must have been a traumatic for the animal.
Since full time 24/7 live aboard boat owners do have dogs does C and RT have an animal welfare officer or a vet attending these events when boats are taken with animals aboard.
I hope the dog didn't go hungry or suffer the from effects of bad weather after eviction.
I do hope the dog doesn't subsequently end up suffering from canine PTSD.
I understand C and RT appointed a welfare officer for the humans because of trauma endured by humans. Dogs suffer too. Did they appoint a pets welfare officer too?
Was the 'human welfare officer' around when this happened?

Someone must be giving public money to CRT....? Who are these persons? Anyway, everyone knows where to find CRT representatives, and everyone knows where Commercial Boat Thieves' offices are. 'Revolution is only one meal away'. We still haven't heard the views of Nottinghamshire Police. Do they approve of theft, or what?

Very glad to see you are ok Tony.i'm Ray by the way - hello. Speaking honestly I cant understand how you seem happy after spending 5 years trying to have your home taken?!I've gone through some of the history and get your arguments,at least some but couldn't you have made the same arguments whilst not losing your boat?got a bssc and license and then got to court afterwards and get the same result but keep your boat? Hello Ray, and thank you for your concern and good wishes. How far back have you gone into what lies behind the current beef with C&RT, . . the origins of which go back to January 2014 when they were kind enough to select me for a test case to see if they could get away with a DIY amendment to Section 17(3) of the 1995 BW Act and, in effect, impose the 'continuous cruising' rules on boat owners with a 'home mooring' ? Further than I was expecting to have a couple of days ago!went through the fusiliers thread on here and then looked at some of the court documents I found when I first googled what was happening

Or... more like this: Epileptic woman evicted from her barge by Canal and River Trust The woman was asleep when the CRT, police and bailiffs descended on Darlington Wharf in Bath on September 14, evicted her from her home and towed her boat away. The woman was later found wandering around Bath in a confused and distressed state. According to staff at a homeless drop-in centre she was so ill that she was incoherent and could not explain what had happened. The following day she was found by police and an ambulance was called. βIt is clear she had a disability and we have no evidence the CRT followed any procedure under the Equality Act. They have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. This raises serious questions about CRTβs compliance with the law regarding the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. Those without home moorings are being targeted, quite the opposite of the CRTβs goal to enrich the lives of boaters." www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/14772405.epileptic-woman-evicted-from-her-barge-by-canal-and-river-trust/But it comes to the old chestnut, over and over again... if you don't have car tax and insurance nor a driving licence, your vehicle will be taken away by DVLC and you'll get a fine or prison sentence. Are boaters expected to get away with not paying for a licence when one is required? CRT have to draw lines somewhere. Sometimes in life you just have to say "No." CRT have had a lot of negative comments directed at them - but they have also had positive thumbs-up reviews. What irks me the most is their rough-handling of delicate situations - sending the gorillas in. And the frivolous waste of money on stupid signage and TV adverts, when CRT claim poverty. Still, it's a catchy tune, isn't it?
