Perhaps its that what we all want is different...There are folk who have what they need without the clubs, festivals and foreign holidays. I don't see that as selfish. I don't need bands or clubs etc but I'd like to see them all open up.. I'd like to see our country return to some sort of normal, for Festivals to go ahead for those who like that type of entertainment Overseas travel I can take or leave now. Its not a must do anymore. If it all settles I may in a few years go again.
Its possible that many people will come out of this with changed views and redefined priorities.

Not a personal comment and won't affect me as I have no profit generating investments of any sort and no pension coming but I wonder how it will go with pensions if the shit hits the fan properly.
Most of these schemes rely on "something happening" to make profits so one wonders, if the economy goes properly tits up, what the effect on pensioners would be.
It could get quit interesting at some stage.
Obvious issue is that the powers that be and vested interests have a very big motivation to keep it all going along nicely so probably won't be allowed to crash.
I for one would love it if there was a proper crash I mean a real one not just a blip.
If course these things are the stuff of dreams, and legends and whatever I forgot what I was going to put next.

Wanna tell that to all the festival organisers that have cancelled this year? The pub owners with hardly anyone in their pubs? Redundant or furloughed staff over numerous industries that are currently closed down? I’m afraid you live in a sheltered existence. Pensioner by any chance? Yes I am no longer working having retired three years ago, however I could have worked all through lockdown had I wanted to as people still keep offering me projects. Oh and my pension is a pittance, not even enough to pay tax on. I'm afraid some think that if you are a pensioner you're minted ........... if only.
Many pensioners are only comfortable because their overheads are low, not because they have "loads a dosh"
and their overheads are low because they have learned to live economically and don't have expensive tastes and don't waste money.

Strangely enough I consider those that have not had both doses of the vaccine who are socializing in pubs to be the selfish ones. Possibly spreading the Delta variant unknowingly. Strangely enough two doses of the vaccination only help protect the vaccinated one from serious illness; they DO NOT stop anyone spreading any variant of Covid-19, unknowingly or otherwise.

Exactly, but those that have not had the vaccine or have only had one dose will shed a higher viral load thus possibly infecting more people.

Get everyone who wants a jab double jabbed pronto, open everything up, crack on with life. Yep, can't wait. You will have noted that the ones complaining the loudest that we're still under lockdown conditions are the ones complaing loudest about being vaccinated. As if the two aren't linked.

We have been watching a fictional series about a financial crash. The ramifications from the aftermath are eyeopening. Not really something I’d like to live through.

If that’s aimed at me John your mistaken about my thoughts. No it was aimed at you, more at the way things have gone sometimes in the past .... It certainly was not aimed at any individual.
Several times there has been comments, especially over the period of Covid's existance that seemed to indicate that pensioners are unaffected by the economics of the population as a whole. ....... I and I am certain many others of my age group, have been through some pretty tough economic times. (1967 and a 14% devaluation of the pound for just one example) Many of us learned to be cautious and not over extend. To be then considered (as some do) as a cossetted group, rankles

I see that in the whole of May, just 355 people died of Covid- around 1 in 7,000,000 per day and that it was the 24th most common cause of death. Why on earth all restrictions have not been lifted is beyond me.
