This thread continues in it's cyclical manner with no one listening to anyone else and 'experts' being drawn for and against like Mr Stabby 's knife. The simple fact is naughtyfox continually misrepresents the current situation in the UK, for whatever reason, choosing to dismiss contradictory evidence ... personal eye witness evidence , of the current situation, preferring to paint some kind of doom laden picture. His choice, however as he's not been in the UK for over 18 months one would expect he would listen to the reality. Sometimes there's no point talking. Rog I can cope now I have the choice whether to click on his posts or not so far the only ones I've read are the ones folk respond to For now that will have to do

There isn't a B&M in Walsgrave. quaysider was asked to wear a mask in a barbers so went elsewhere. The barbers, hairdressers and beauty (nails and tanning) places I passed and looked in at, we're mask free. I wandered around Rugby town and visited loads of shops and a cafe and was NEVER asked to wear a mask, and the vast majority of people (guess over 80% but just a guess) weren't wearing them either (including staff). Bizarrely, those wearing masks tended to wear them outside too, which struck me as odd, but each to their own. The fact remains in the UK it is all optional now ... no longer mandatory ... and despite fox's doom laden postings we ARE moving on. Rog Those wearing them may be extremely clinically vulnerable..the ones for whom the vaccine would not work or they may be isolating or just still worried. I've been told I must wear a mask outside and keep away from people until my op.

And one of the biggest threats to long term survival of humans is overpopulation. Oh dear. Yes, this happens everywhere in nature. If there are too many ladybirds then loads of wasps appear to gobble them up. If there are too many rabbits then Mother Naure invents myxomatosis. Humans aren't so special that we can over-ride this. The planet is far more important than any of us are. I believe I may be corrected shortly but I think this is where your/my/our lack of a "proper education" is evident.... surely it should be "than are any of us" ?

I still choose to wear one out of respect for others when in confined spaces, for which I was thanked today by a volunteer in a charity shop who worries about her vulnerable son with AF. We should never forget it's not all about me.

Possibly, but this is an internet forum, not a literary competition and I just write it how I would say it. Which really is what written language should be all about and one of the reasons I prefer Russian to English. There's none of this nonsense about how Gillingham in Dorset is pronounced differently to Gillingham in Kent.

There's none of this nonsense about how Gillingham in Dorset is pronounced differently to Gillingham in Kent. I only mentioned it because so many here seem keen on the old speeling and grammer stuff, often to the detriment/denigration of others, sadly. However, I do tend to agree with you. Much as I like to see proper spelling and grammar I prefer people to say what they want how they will... ... and I never dreamed you knew about the Gillingham connection!

I beg you ....please don't divulge my secret and that you have really seen me, my dog and my boat! God forbid, naughtyfox might be disabused of his notion I am a daft old bat who lurks somewhere between Betton Wood and Woodseaves Cutting ....

Unfortunately, our intercourse did not last long enough (they all say that) to be able to make a judgment on any percieved daftness or similarity to mammals of the order Chiroptera, so if asked I would restrict myself to saying "She's a bit of a Babe".
