kris here you go. 50mm foam of some sort needed. It needs an airflow through, that's why wood chip is added to ordinary garden compost. Ours came with a thermometer in the lid and one to use inside, temp needs to be 40-60c. Have a look at the hotbin composting site for the info.

I donβt quite understand how the bit at the bottom works for draining the liquid off. I presume this is made out of some sort of plastic? Also is there any kind of grill in it? Thanks for taking the time and trouble though.

Does one have to direct the fecal matter through that little hole? Thomas crapper would be rolling on his grave.

You did actually label it "lid" it is in the image you posted.
As your handwriting leaves a little to be desired I had thought it might have said "Lidl" so I rushed round there only to find a queueue at the till.
So I left, swearing in Spanish, as you do.
ETA I have now realised this is not a toileting device.
Presumably it is to do with storage of the decomposing shit as an alternative to paint pots or buckets or CRT Biffer bins.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble though. On mine the whole thing is one foam moulding, plus the lid, bottom door and inner bottom with the air holes in. There's a chamber below the bottom, the leechate collects in the base, below the level of the air vent hole. You'd need some sort of plastic tray in a homemade one, with a means of draining it. Leakage onto the back deck for more than 3 weeks is not advised.

What is "leechate"?
I mean in technical terms.
Does it have an odour ?
I see it has a bottom door and an inner bottom.
This seems to be quite an advanced unit.
