I thought we had a thread somewhere on signs, but never mind.
I came across this sign on a swingbridge on Facebook today. Its from the approach to Aintree.
I've seen what it actually means and I'm sure most of us know too but who writes and approves this stuff

I think it means that once the bridge has been opened, it won’t open again for 10 minutes. This is to prevent too much traffic disruption. Although the timings look weird!

I thought it was for car drivers. 10 mins likely delay and bridge operation during the hours shown. Far from clear though...

I've recently encountered a few CRT signs pointing you into the local town centre (one of which is so close you can't fail to see it once you stick your head above the parapet!)......
..... what??!!!!
Surely IF such signs are needed it isn't down to CRT funds to pay for and erect them?

The times are stated. I blame the effect of the vaccine on your loss of cognitive ability. Fuck off! Just being honest.

I thought it was for car drivers. 10 mins likely delay and bridge operation during the hours shown. Far from clear though... I think you are probably right, it makes more sense wrt the timings. I was thinking of the bridge on the KandA which, once opened, is disabled for another 15 mins or so.

Another one who has been effected by the vaccine. It really is turning people into zombies. You, of all people, Nick. Traffic is not to be disturbed by boaters between 0730-0930 (morning rush hour) and 1400-1800 (afternoon rush hour, plus maybe a bit on top). now wouldn't that make an easier to read sign.

Why would you write a sign that gives you times for when a delay may be expected. Like Ross said
Bridge closed. 7.30 am to 9.30 am & 2pm to 6pm Isn't that nice and clear. Now for the delay. I wonder what thats for.

Because it actually makes sense. For failing the timings of when a delay maybe expected. But who at crt thought a motorist would ever read it. One other thing is does the towpath cross the bridge, it may be intended for towpath users. Bit they could have cleared that up on the sign.
