And yet you chose to weaponise it in order to score a point over me. It’s often been said on here that “I bang on and on about it” but in nearly every case, it is another party (often the one complaining) who raised the subject initially but has conveniently forgotten. Maybe these people are particularly stupid and don’t realise what they have said, or maybe they just hope other people are sufficiently stupid such that they don’t realise it. Who knows!? I was responding to a post in which you condoned violence against peaceful protesters and I was making that point in a humorous (to me) wayA way that was humorous to you but broke the law. You will notice that on CWDF I immediately apologised to the person I’d upset, a behaviour you should consider emulating. But no, silly me, you are not a big enough man to ever apologise for anything.

Except it didn't. There is no legal obligation on citizens to disagree with the outcomes of historical events. Which is why the Police completely ignored your complaint. However, I am sorry if you were upset by my post if that helps. Meanwhile I find it amusing that a thread you started in order to crow about reporting a volunteer lock-keeper to a higher authority has resulted in you yourself being reported to CWDF administration and no doubt resulted in a strike being recorded against you.

Meanwhile I find it amusing that a thread you started in order to crow about reporting a volunteer lock-keeper to a higher authority has resulted in you yourself being reported to CWDF administration and no doubt resulted in a strike being recorded against you. Wikipedia has this to say, my emboldening: “Hate speech laws in England and Wales are found in several statutes. Expressions of hatred toward someone on account of that person's colour, race, disability, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origin, religion, gender reassignment, or sexual orientation is forbidden.[1][2][3][4] Any communication which is threatening or abusive, and is intended to harass, alarm, or distress someone is forbidden.[5] The penalties for hate speech include fines, imprisonment, or both.” Thunderboat users tend to presume that no-one else is reading and I’m sure that for the most part, this is true. But it is a public forum and one of my aims is to remind people that there is no unbridled free speech in the UK and there are a myriad of examples of where silly throw-away posts that nevertheless broke the law, have eventually come back to bite people years later. Your apology is noted and accepted. In case there was ever any doubt, no of course I didn’t contact the police. The extent of administrator action against me is what you saw. I suspect Athy thought the chap was overreacting and could see it was a joke not intended to offend but felt obliged to make some input in response to the complaint, hence his post and my response,

I think what some people blatantly fail to appreciate is that certain boaters take boating very seriously. You can only live in the moment. There is nothing else. If you get intense enjoyment from going through a canal lock in the way you want to then it can indeed be likened to having sex. I'm sure most people (not all!) would be slightly annoyed if while they were making love to a beautiful woman (or man) some volunteer shagger came along and instructed them as to how to do it or altered their working methods. This can be directly translated to boating. Taking a narrow boat up through a lock on a warm summer's day is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You arrive, anticipate and admire the view, move forwards slowly then gradually open her up, slide it in, ensure the safety of the surroundings and fill her up. And then, five minutes later and it's all over.

You are forgetting that the raison d'etre for the existance of Thunderboat is free speech
…
Any poster presenting extremist views, providing they keep within the laws of the UK, should be able to do so.
…
If you honestly believe that any posting breaks the law then don't moan about it on here.
In the UK, “free speech” does not mean you can say or write anything. Posting hate speech is not “within the laws of the UK”, as I’ve explained before. And if you are a proponent of free speech, how does that fit in with your last quoted sentence? very simply ..... pragmatism.
as I said if you honestly believe that something posted breaks the law then go and do something about it.
whinging about something on the internet does not achieve anything apart from getting it off your chest.
I am perfectly at liberty to post that I dislike 75% of the gay population
I am perfectly at liberty to post that I dislike 75% of coloured people
This is neither homophobic nor is it racist .......
I dislike 75% of all people regardless of race, creed or sexual preference and consider the world might be a better place without them.
That is not hate speech, I am not suggesting that anyone should go out and do their best to exterminate them.
I consider that anyone who attempts to go out and exterminate any group is themselves worthy of extermination***
I consider fake rivets on a modern boat to be ....... pointless
Why do you consider your dislikes should prevent me from watching those I dislike
*** you may consider this to be hate speech if you wish ..... I care not like mad

Clearly none of that is hate speech or anywhere close.

I find it harrassing when people tell me they are 'immuno-compromised' and I should wear a face mask to keep them happy. Do they simply not care for the well-being of others? Clearly not!

I hate everybody and hope they all die horribly. Is that hate speech? Well if you use the word 'hate' I guess it's a kind of hate speech. 🤔 Whether it's illegal or not depends on how much money and power you have. 😉

I hate everybody and hope they all die horribly. Is that hate speech? Yes. You need to say "I hate everybody and hope they all die horribly except for minority groups".

I am happy that immigrants drown in the channel?
Should help put off the rest of the dinghy sailors.

They say these sorts of things on foxy's favourite webshite all the time "isacunt" so I wonder how it works there.
Maybe it's okay as long as you don't wind up the gay black jews.
