Anyone know how to do this?
I've always struggled and generally need accelerants or twiglets.

Embarrass mr Putin, he will then drop a nuclear bomb on you which should ignite a nice fire.

I know. 1. Take a sip of paraffin, don't swallow it. 2. Light a match 3. Breath in, exhale vigorously with a sort of shushing, thus blowing a paraffin droplet cloud over the match. 4. If flame runs back at you shut your gob and move away.
Do not try this for the first time in your dad's garage. It will blacken the roof. Health warning: Chemical pneumonia can result if you get the paraffin in lung tissue, prolonged exposure to the sooty fumes can trigger asthma in the weak and feeble. Alkies can spontaneously ignite. I offer no guarantees for the safety of anyone trying this.

A touch of dragon breath helps, too ... I tend to have this on a Saturday morning after a few cold river ciders the night before.

Some wire wool and a 9v battery will get a fire going nicely.

Some wire wool and a 9v battery will get a fire going nicely. Nice idea but probably cheaper to buy a box of matches. I screw up about a dozen sheets of newspaper (Daily Mail preferably!), add a dozen sticks of kindling on top in a criss cross pile, then put a dozen lumps of coal on top. I use a gas lighter to set the newspaper on fire and make sure the lower vent door is fully open until the coal starts to take (see plumes of ignited gas from the coal). If you have run out of kindling you can make swords out of tightly rolled up newspaper (anyone remember doing that as a kid and poking your parents with them?). Wasn't it you a while back who suggested using oil soaked rags to start a fire? Probably works well but a bit environmentally unfriendly...
