Mine's alight right now, not so much for the cold but the damp.

You'd have to feel sorry for anyone who's spent Β£2,000 for a week on a hire boat at the moment.

Doesn't the weather always nose dive once the kids break up from school ?
Seems to be an annual thing.

Having just checked, it seems to have come down a bit. I paid Β£1,600 to hire this www.abcboathire.com/our-boats/2-5-berth/alvechurch-heron for a week in 2014 but this year a week in August is Β£1,259. I guess they are struggling to get them out at the moment.

I've had the fire alight every morning. Partly as a territorial claim procedure and also for burning the shit.
Works a treat. I won't go into details but all you need is a wok type cooking pot full of ash, coil one in and decant to the fire using a bent soup ladle. Fire needs to be hot.

Still lashing down here but it's 21 degrees in the boat so a fire's not on the cards.

It is much better using a wok lined with wood ash than a wok not lined with wood ash.
