I just wonder how many of these “boaters,” with floating apartments would be afloat if they had to use candles couldn’t have big tv’s and freezers etc and had the radio for entertainment. Which is how is was up until not that long ago. So what's your point? Apart from moaning about a tv show about boaters who have a big telly which you watched...on a telly...on your boat... We need is to get back to basics and just have an eight-track mixing desk instead of these blummin sixteen-track tossers.

I didn't see a TV on kris 's boat. We don't have a TV as we don't watch it on the boat. However we have tablets and use them for our choice of entertainment. Is there a problem expressing an opinion that a 43" tv (or 40" for that matter) is overkill on a narrow boat? We don't have a microwave, bread maker, coffee machine, air fryer, cctv, ring doorbell or any other of what are nowadays considered essential conveniences on board. We still think of boating as a short step up from camping, which is at odds with modern boaters, that's all. Rog

Which is how is was up until not that long ago. They have the funds to repair a prop shaft within 3 weeks, candles (scented) are just to keep mozzies and flies away and make the room smell nice. Now there's a thought, could be useful for some.

Especially when your watching porn.

How would you have coped not being able to moan about just about everything, without that modern convenience The Internet? Recently I read a book Co-written by James Patterson and Bill Clinton which is about terrorists that hack the USA internet, threatening to completely remove the internet. I’d not thought of the implications of this previously. Terrifying actually.

Good point.
We were only talking about this the other day.
How quickly we've learned to rely on Internet access ... where nearest shop is, bus service, launderette, sanitary services ... and yet we didn't have mobile Internet until about 2008.
Prior to that it was Nicholsons, Aylesbury Laundry List, and shank's pony 😁

What I’d not really considered though was that we really couldn’t survive if it was suddenly ‘switched off’ as our whole society relies on it now.

Is there a problem expressing an opinion that a 43" tv (or 40" for that matter) is overkill on a narrow boat? Of course not but the opinion expressed was 'it's the end of the world as we know it' which I deemed excellent material to pour scorn on. If I had a narrowboat or similar I absolutely would have a big telly on board. Maybe two if it was a big boat.

And yet thanks to kris bothering to pass the remark we're into page two of chat. Personally I like this kind of nonsense thread. If we only post factually accurate statements there'd be no scope for chat. Rog

Also I would not mind if anyone thought this was odd or in bad taste but if it was an opinion that was vocalised within earshot I would suggest that any persons involved in any such activity should fuck off.
