Never mind VAT there should be some sort of price controls or prescription thing for sanity products for women. I once bought some pads for the older daughter and Christ on a Bike they are a ridiculous price for such a small and simple item. I was really shocked. Bloody children ! I know a few who could be helped with sanity products. They usually have several cats.

I put the term ‘working’ as you had mentioned ‘working workers’ and tax cuts in your prior rant, on the very same day the period knicker vat announcement was in the news.😂🙄 I was going to put ‘approximately 50% of the population’ but knew it would give your pedantry an opening!🙄 You are free to start a thread about any subject Jim, including the covid enquiry, if you want to create a discussion about it! Its really not that difficult!🤷🏽♂️ My mention of working workers was ironic, highlighting the overuse of the term as some sort of sincerity badge.

Working workers is definitely ironic. Particularly now everyone gets £11.44 an hour for - just turning up. Makes one wonder how very high benefits must be to trump that.........

Are hard working workers entitled to that? Who needs nondescript, minimal tax cuts when you get a 10% pay rise huh?🤷🏽♂️ www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-67484102

You currently have to work about 35hrs a Month on minimum wage before you are off the Universal Benefit 'basic allowance' which is the part you get to live on after housing costs. Working 2hrs a day on minimum wage 5 days a week would put you in a better position than claiming benefits. You can choose what looks better, having to work 2 hrs a day or having to apply for 10 jobs a week plus attend a weekly Job Centre interview, and go on retraining courses. Essentially, working 10 hours a week puts you on more money than universal credit and not working.
Happy to put the facts up.

having to apply for 10 jobs a week plus attend a weekly Job Centre interview, and go on retraining courses. Not as if you have anything else to do during the day 🤷🏽♂️, you should be grateful you're getting free entertainment & education! 🙄

Damn site easier ride than Id have if I decided to do a circa £800 training course that, being a tax payer, would have to work for to pay for the course cost as well as loosing 3 weeks wages completing it! 🙄
No doubt you can claim your travel / sustenance expenses too! 🙄

I'll also ask about 'holiday allowance', as far as I'm currently aware I'm not allowed to take a week off.....

I'm just glad that £300k cash legacy is winging its way towards my bank account.
Getting involved in the benefits system has been a bit heart rending. I like free money but there is something slightly awkward about not getting a lot of it.
Also I find the way they try to push people into work is a bit inappropriate. There should be time to contemplate, consider and take convenient steps before coming to the conclusion that it really is all Fucked.
Thank god for family money !
I'd have liked more but have learned my lesson, will give up the beer stop having children and reduce the boat Count and live happily ever after in a catastrophically chaotic dream.
There are other options but Access is not just a credit card.
There is no way in to this.

I suspect that unless the Cons raise the tax thresholds by at least the rate of wages growth, most people will be facing paying more tax next year. "The thresholds used to rise every year, but Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has frozen both the income tax personal allowance and the point at which people start paying higher tax until April 2023. The tax-free personal allowance will remain at £12,570. Most taxpayers do not pay any tax on income below this level. But freezing the thresholds means that as wages rise, people pay tax on a bigger portion of their earnings, and more people move into higher tax brackets." (BBC News)
