Dictatorship. Right wing. Obvious to most of us. As is China. Communism is right wing? The way I see it, when a regime controls, manipulates and subjugates it's population, what it is fundamentally not is socialist, Marxist or Communist, despite any label it may choose to assume. It's a fact that all so-called communist governments took their cue from the Russian model where all pretence of socialism died with Lenin. I took a visit to Cuba once, a state often lauded as the most successful of communist countries, and in many ways the population is quite well-off; healthcare, education etc. Arguably among the best anywhere on the planet. But they are all as poor as church mice, the state of Havana's buildings are a miracle of determination to not let them fall down, and no plumbing or sewage facilities to speak of. But it's not unreasonable to blame a great deal of that on the 'embargo'. Also they are not allowed, for the most part, to leave. But the cost of an airline ticket is way beyond the means of most people anyway. Oh, and it's undeniably a police state, albeit a relatively soft-handed one.

Yes, I've been to Cuba and found the locals were happy to engage unlike the Soviet states where even after Communism collapsed, Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians etc were clearly wary of being seen talking to a foreigner. However, the fact that Cubans are not allowed to emigrate marks it as a totalitarian State. Cuba is generally considered to have a left-wing ruling regime.

In many ways it deserves the label. But I doubt I'd find a chapter on population control in 'Das Capital', should I ever read it.
Oh and the locals were friendly, happy (mostly) and seemingly unafraid to openly criticise the gov if they felt like it.

North Korea is a totalism dictatorship, only your personal views will decide whether it is right or left wing.
All references to communism were removed a while back.
The government has formally replaced all references to Marxism–Leninism in its constitution with the locally developed concept of Juche, or self-reliance. Kim Jong Il placed emphasis on the Songun or "military-first" philosophy, and all references to communism were removed from the North Korean constitution in 2009.[16] Under Kim Jong Un, terminology such as communism and the socialist economy is again in common use.[17] He additionally made Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism the main ideology of the country.
Is Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism left or right wing - or just bat shit crazy - who knows...

The main lesson I learned from Cuba was that if I ever heard "Guantanamera" again I was gong to rip out the heart of the person with the guitar and eat it in front of him.

The DPRK is nothing more than a criminal enterprise on a grand scale. It would be better named the DPRK PLC.

I got a band to play 'Hasta Siempre Comandante' for me. But it was clearly a cash deal. 😁

There is a club called the Copa Cabana in Havana. Strictly for the tourists, although the dancing girls gave it everything they had. I imagine it's a fairly desirable job.
'With yellow ribbons in her hair / And a dress cut down to there'.
Don't mind an occasional bit of Barry Manilow myself.

Barry Manilow looks a lot like an early experimental unit for plastic surgery.
