I understand the next official update will be 23 February.
Thought, as this stoppage maybe around a while, it merited its own thread for any reports or news.

Rog Would be nice if the update on the 23rd mentions how much of the landslide has been removed. I suspect that it will just tell us what they plan to do, and when.

I saw on Jane's fb images of C&RT work boats being craned in at Lime Farm ... hopefully a channel can be cleared until the major securing works are done. Of course these days with H&S, surveys required re wildlife and plant life, plus legal permissions rather than just cracking on, it won't be a quick fix ... but π€ you'd have to hope it's open well before April. See what the update says (if anything) come 23rd. I think it's an omen for you Mr Stabby to keep on working and building that nest egg π Rog

Yes, makes sense.
We're fortunate in that due to winter works we can only head up Hatton, and then in June we're booked in to London, so selfishly, the North Oxford stoppage doesn't directly affect our plans.
But it's a very busy waterway and you have to hope they'll have it open as quickly as possible.

Just went down to have a nosey. The second landslip is about 100 yards from the first but doesn't look to be as bad. It has made the towpath impassable though so I couldn't get to the major slippage. Might be possible from the Fosse Way end but the towpath was very boggy and it would have involved walking a lot further along it so I didn't bother. There are a couple of Rothen work boats there and they've clearly been cutting up trees although there weren't any operatives there at the time. EDIT to add, one of Rothen's hoppers came past my mooring this afternoon so my guess is they're preparing to start clearing up on Monday.

Yet more heavy overnight rain, I wouldn't be surprised if there was more slippage to come. All of the problems on the North Oxford come not from the original Brindley contour canal but the later shortenings, originally the canal went through Brinklow village itself and this cutting was only added in around 1830.

Macclesfield canal finally opened on Friday ... not a quick job, but quicker than many predictions.
Hope the same applies at the cutting and your plans work out.

A vlogger called n.b. Spudley is posting videos of Easenhall cutting and the work on Youtube, if anyone wishes to view. Below is a still taken from his vlog I believe on Friday (hope Mr Spudley doesn't mind me reproducing a still) Looking good so far. Rog
