Dropped the trailer off last night, and we are staying in a cheap but perfectly good B&B hotel (B&B is the brand name). Travelodge sort of thing, but nicer. Kassel is not particularly inspiring, but ok. So today we went to visit a border museum (border between DDR and GDR). Itβs a subject that fascinates Jeff and it was quite interesting to see the remains of the border running though an otherwise very pleasant hilly landscape.
On the way back, hit the Autobahn without trailer to give the Skoda a leg-stretching. Derestricted autobahns are all very well but no sooner had I out the foot down than we hit an 80kph limit for a tunnel. But then I managed a burst of speed and hit 140mph which did seem quite fast. Then suddenly came across a sign saying 120kph with no warning so brakes have to be clapped on and speed halved. Tβwas fun, anyway. Then we hit traffic so that was the end of the fun. Although I have been well over 140mph on a bike, that is the fastest Iβve been in a car by a long way.
German drivers are pretty good - whilst an English motorway is nose to tail in the fast lane with the slow lanes empty, in Germany the fast lane is mostly clear and certainly people pull in as soon as they have finished overtaking - which of course doesnβt take long at 100mph+

0 to 60 mph in about 6 seconds ... impressive for a food mixer motor π€£

Excessive acceleration is quite dangerous.
Maybe this is why the Tesla 3, which in reality is a mediocre incredibly boring ordinary car is insurance group 50. People probably can't handle the injection of power. Its a selling point but it does not make a useful car unless the driver has serious issues.

Couldn't agree more ... but then I'm not a car fan.
Reliable is all I ask.

Couldn't agree more ... but then I'm not a car fan. Reliable is all I ask. Rog Yes. It is dodgy if the car is in charge of the person. It should be the other way around but quite often it isn't. Its actually a funny situation 'I can get away faster from the lights than that other person I don't know' and 'I will get to my destination quicker than they will even though I have no idea where they are going. All a bit silly but very much part of instinctive behaviour.

Which outpaces my Skoda which is pretty fast at 0-62 in 5.2 seconds. I also notice that a lot of these new electric cars are rear wheel drive. Which helps them get off the line quickly, but I wonder what theyβll be like on slippery roads / snow / ice.
