Well I think we can say winter is over, well as regards to solar power we are out of the dark part of the year. This winter I haven’t had to run an internal combustion engine at all for power. Which considering I haven’t been able to work and have been at home a lot is amazing. Last winter I had to run a generator for four hours but this year not at all. For me I consider this quite an achievement and something I’ve wanted to be able to do for a while so I’m happy.

That's great. How kWh solar do you have? We get fair amount on the house panels in winter.

Panel size.
I got all my power at the country estate Boat from solar but not there all the time and am a very low consumer.
That Boat is on a rather shaded mooring.
830w solar array plus a 355w on a separate regulator.

That Boat is on a rather shaded mooring. 830w solar array plus a 355w on a separate regulator. 2.2kw of solar but these newer all black very efficient ones. But it’s the lithium that makes the difference. Well that and being a low consumer. Don’t get me wrong I’ve done winters not running generators(because I haven’t owned one.) but it’s been like living in a cave minimal lighting, rechargeable radios and torches etc. But I do have a low power inverter that I switch to in winter. 1700-1800w pure sine wave. But it only draws 0.4amp at standby. But it’s on 24/7 for all lighting, laptop, iPod etc. so I’m consuming quite a bit. But no generator this winter, which I’m well happy with. My batteries where full, at about ten this morning so I’ve got plenty of power. Maybe it’s time to get the electric kettle out of the cupboard and look at rigging the electric cooker up that I’ve got.

I just have 100w panel on my caravan. Last week I fitted a Victron Blue Smart controller to replace the crappy PWM one - massive difference, much more than I would have thought. Plus the Bluetooth link to App and fairly cheap price.

Ita the best consumer grade product around and user friendliness is good.
Their connector blocks are not of the first water and there are better products around but they know their shit.

Yes some of their products are crap. I had one of their newer 30amp battery chargers that I sent back. It just didn’t work properly. I think some of he newer smaller inverters aren’t such good quality either. To be honest it’s the same with any company some good products some not so good. I know Victron have switched their production to India in the last few years. So knowing your views on Indians I’m surprised you would by Indian?

Slimy indians is a humour reference on this forum because it was one of the only times posts have ever been deleted by admin.

I can see why it would be a problem for someone with influence to do this but this is unlikely to be the case when I make comments as it is very improbable that anyone takes anything seriously.
I hope not !
