It would be good news if I thought they where going to do anything worthwhile.

Can't do any worse. At least they are concerned about the ordinary man, you know those who create the wealth for the wealthy.

I am not sure such large majorities are good for the country, see what the large Tory majority has given us. I think I would prefer a mid left leaning coalition, so if the barmy left managed to get control of Labour while in power there could be a moderating influence.

Or a committed massive nuclear exchange between the superpowers (and impoverished nations like Great Britain) which would, in the long term, wipe the slate clean for a nice fresh start.

This is basically what we have, when the civil service and NGO's decide what ministers can do. Without them, there would have been a creative budget last month and there would be a constructive plan to curtail immigration to manageable levels so that the genuine homeless would have a better option than a sheltered doorway. (Maybe a 4 star hotel room?)

I think I would prefer a mid left leaning coalition, so if the barmy left managed to get control of Labour while in power there could be a moderating influence. This is basically what we have, when the civil service and NGO's decide what ministers can do legally. Without them, there would have been an illegal creative budget last month and there would be a constructive plan to curtail immigration to manageable levels so that the genuine homeless would have a better option than a sheltered doorway. (Maybe a 4 star hotel room?) ftfy.

That illustrates exactly whay I'm saying. The 'legality' of government decisions rests within the remit of the opinion of unelected officials, in this case , the Office of Budget Responsibility, that consosts of a random selection of ex politicians and civil services who have a lamentable record of accuracy within their forecasts.

Judging by their record, someone who considers buy to let to be a business, and moving capital from one asset class to another to be 'failure', would fit in nicely there.

It’s obvious Labour are the favourites, the Tories have been in power for years, they have had to deal with Brexit and Covid, hence the economy is in a pickle. We will see if Labour can do any better
