It was more interesting a decade ago. Was the stolen boat being lived on, presumably by the thief if he or she was in residence? The post was just about the fact there’s a live map of piracy, I thought it was interesting. Jim tried to turn it into something else mentioning overstayers etc. I mentioned stolen boats because I encounted one being recovered yesterday. Which I suppose is piracy (does piracy have to be on the high seas?) But the original post is about the map.

I really like the whole theme of deliberately drifting onto land in an estuary during a storm surge then setting up home. Got to be done. Yes it’s not a bad idea. I suppose an estuary would be good because of the ownership of the shore. There are a few places on the Trent I’ve thought about something similar but I’d make arrangements with the landowner first. Ps there are quite a few estuaries where you can moor for free tidal moorings though. I went to have a look at a boat with a friend moored on one. A beautiful spot near barrow on furness, free moorings sheltered behind a break water.

And anywhere near Indonesia. Just wondered if the repoed boat was occupied at the time.

From what I hear insurance for sailboats is getting exspensive and almost impossible as a single hander. No the culprits where not to be seen. To be honest it had rung alarm bells with me when it turned up. Iffy paint job, they where fitting a new window and the blokes where dodgy. So I gave it a wide berth. The police must be getting better, last time I came across a stolen boat they weren’t interested in accompanying the owner to recover it until the owner told them he was going to take some lads then they decided they could accompany him.

Yes you’ve exspressed your opinion on an Internet forum, that’s allowed. What other people do with that is up to them. A change of heart?

I believe that when pirates are detained, prosecuted and imprisoned, they get sent to Cell Block Arrrrr.
