Back at Wash n Go Craven Road, Rugby. Happy days. I know some launderettes are closing down (e.g. Marple) and occasionally find new ones within twenty minutes walk of the boat (e.g. Pablo's in Birmingham). So I thought I'd start a thread to collate any information you have. Plus I know some love my exciting and gripping style of prose, so it's an opportunity to abuse me away from more interesting threads 😊 Rog

I was contemplating a boat washing machine that didn't need electricity. The idea is one of those blue barrels with a sealable lid. Some of them have a screw-on lid which would be best. Then a crank handle at the top attached to a rod which goes down the middle of the barrel. The rod has paddles or summat. Maybe a tap at the bottom for draining purposes.

A dolly tub effectively 😁
Rainy days like these, visiting a launderette is no hardship ... all clean and dry before we leave for about £10/11 at this one.

I wonder if it might be prudent to amend the thread title to Launderette List just in case people are expecting to see a display of your sheets and smalls....?!? 😁

West Drayton Launderette - 59 Station Rd, West Drayton UB7 7LR, best one in the Uxbridge area for when you head towards London.
Although you seem to have got a bit lost on route atm...

Laundrettes are very poor value for money. I went to one nearby in an emergency a while back, the washer wanted 6 quid and the cycle was over so fast the clothes barely got wet. I genuinely thought it was faulty but I believe the sort of commercial washers like the one pictured can be programmed for a fast wash. Very effing fast. And the drier just ate cash. Also this launderette had an attendant who did nothing except unlock the doors. The lazy cow didn't even have change. Fuck her launderette.
Anyway when I lived on't boat I found the worst thing was the trek to such a place, especially in winter. Ok I know you can have a washing machine if you try hard enough but one which didn't use leccy would be good.
I do not know what a dolly tub is. Never heard the term before now.
