It would of been great if you did a full build blog on it from start to now. I have thought about doing that ..... at the moment I just don't have the time or energy. I have got just a month to get everything finished and ready for sea, it's mostly done but it surprising how many fiddly bits there are (and how long they take) Today I was mostly just chasing round sorting things ....... Getting some meters from the boatyard converted to take the new pound coins, (It's my account at the wholesalers) To the chandlers to replace a faulty VHF and buy some new nav light bulbs. Onward to the agents for my main engine to change some oil filters that had been incorrectly supplied (they looked the same at a glance and the number was almost identical but they were slightly longer and they wouldn't fit under the manifold) Then on to the timber yard to get the thinner birch ply for the gangway. By the time I got back to the boat there was only time to get a coat of paint on one side of the panels ........ and that was another day gone !!! Sounds like a full day though John, well done for getting your boat ready, thanks for sharing photos of the process, I look forward to at least a few photos of the voyage.

The cleaners may make an appearance on Saturday morning.... The machined adaptor and coupling as one This now gives what I wanted originally when the new prop shaft was made. The gap between the rope cutter and the cutlass bearing is about 1/4" by my calibrated eye π

Staying with the filthy engine hole. ... This is the extra circulating pump to make use of the newly fitted plate heat exchanger. When the webasto is running I can preheat the engine with this pump. I was going to double clip the hoses but the 15mm pipework I soldered up using solder ring couplers to make hose tails were a bit of a bastard to get In the hose they were such a tight fit, as such I didn't need to.

Still a bit to do in the heads. Power and fuel to get to the heater. Boxing in to do in the right hand corner once the sink is fitted, you can see the brass skin fitting for the sink waste. The copper tube is the fuel line for the heater, it will go in some trunking along with the power and control cables. The gadget on the left is the seasmart flush water sanitiser. Flush water comes in on the left of the loo, sanitiser teed into the hose at the water inlet on the toilet, a thin pipe is fed through the flush water hose up to the seacock/strainer to keep things smelling nice - particularly when the boat isn't being used. The dosing unit monitors the flush usage and doses accordingly. Hose on the right of the loo is the discharge, this goes to a diverter valve at the rear left of the loo under the floor. Holding Tank to be made and fitted but this can be done afloat. Lots of loose ends to tidy up but as we all know they are never finished! Into the drink on Saturday afternoon, all things being equal (and watertight!) First cruise will be to the Kings Head for a well earned pint of Stowford Press ππ

Pictures may be a stretch, it's just me and me mate dunking it in at the moment. Will try to be good though. The Stowford isnt cheap at Wadenhoe but I'm willing to overlook that! You've done tremendously well, there always seem a point the momentum is gone, I had that for the last 4-6 weeks, kicked on the last couple though. You'll be right, you will soon have some water under the old girls keel π

I've not got a lot to report ...... not like the way Gazza has been sprinting along !!! I dug out my hand held VHF (unused for about 4 years) and found it didn't work ....... guessed it was the battery so bought a new one for it ........ It wasn't the battery !!! (Or more accurately it was the battery but that wasn't the only fault ...... lots of muttering under my breath) I was planning on that being my backup. Rather than buy another hand held I decided to buy another fixed radio, there is not much difference in price.
Got it back to the boat and went to fit it ....... opened up the console and decided that I had to sort it out properly. I wired it up about 17 years ago when all there was were nav lights and engine controls. Since then a VHF (non DSC) was added, then a flux gate compass, then a GPS. The VHF was replaced with a DSC version. Recently a radar and a chartplotter have been added. When I opened it up to wire in the extra VHF, I stopped. It looked like someone had poured a bowl full of multicoloured spaghetti in and slammed the lid.
Today I have stripped out most of the cables tidied up. I reckon it will take me at least two days to rewire but I couldn't add more to that mess ....... If anything had gone wrong it would have been a nightmare to sort.
I won't be doing much over the next few days as it's my sister's 80th birthday tomorrow. She is also having a lunch party on Sunday so I will be helping her get everything ready.

Sounds like a few cars i have over the years John, easier to start fro scratch at times. For a minute i read `Launch party ` lol. was going to ask what boat your sis has lol. You have a good break, you have been busy and a good knees up is always needed to relax

I'm only 8 years in on this - we have decided that she is a death us do part job though, no way could I entertain another one. That's where Wayne trumps me, massive effort to transform a boat while keeping a weather eye on the next project. I can't see past this one! massive respect for the huge commitment and part of your life she has become, she's a credit to you ππΊπ»

Well, little by little we get there, managed a bit more work after picking the Dwarf up from nursery, kept her busy with chocolate and a new colouring book while I fitted the silicone hose reducers to the cauliflower to webasto connection. Filled it full of 30% antifreeze solution and we are good to go, no leaks and a happy Gazza π
Tomorrow is mainly Electrical work, reconnect 3 x 663 110a domestic battery's - they are back from their winter holiday in my workshop, couple of larger cables to crimp up for the 1000w inverter I fitted last year. Connect up the new engine circulation pump and re-wire the domestic water pump in it's new location. Fit toilet flush switch and wire in. Refit and rewire Wallas heater control panel.
Then it's dump it in the water time, check for seacock leaks - if that's all good refill water tanks and persuade the old girl back into life.

Well, yesterday was proper hard work! I took the chance to replace the bilge pump hose, as the original was getting a bit sad for itself. The outlet is as good as on the waterline so it was a bit mission critical to make sure that didn't let go! Next up was fit the new inverter cables and battery interlinks. On to prepping the engine from its slumber, mainly turn the fuel on, spanner check of all fittings, check raw water drain plugs etc. Next task was to get her off the blocks and back on to the trailer, a task made much easier with the use of my trusty bottle jack. Once manoeuvred onto the slip we put her in far enough to check the seacocks were holding tight. 20 minutes later she was in and floating. Crap photo and we are minus one fender - God knows what's become of that! Onto refilling water tanks, nipping up slight weeps in the domestic water system and then the big UN - turn the key and burst her into life! No issues there - in fact she is running in that picture. I then wired up the circulation pump and got the webasto going - pleased with the results and now once again have hot water on demand. Popped over today to check she hadn't sunk during the night and wire up the toilet, it's not been christained yet but works spot on, I've flushed it a few times and have a feeling the dwarf will be the first to use it in anger π Boat is water tight and I'm pleased to be towards the end of some pretty big jobs. Still got the Wallas to finish and the Seasmart to commission but that won't take long. Hoping to get some use out of her over the Easter break - ran out of time for a chug down river to the pub so will have to wait for the well earned Stowford π»πΊππͺ

Just to follow this up, we had a run to Oundle and back yesterday, with a clean bum she gets a good lick on in the rare deeper bits of the river. The mods to the cauliflower were well worth it, particularly lagging it and fitting the TMV to the hot outlet, we still had a good drop of hot next morning compared to the luke warm contents we normally had. Also fitting an acumalator which has reduced the pump cycling time a fair bit. The bog - as discussed elsewhere on TB is an absolute gem. The heaters are back working which means the girls can have it in inferno setting and stay happy As ever, I've a few jobs to finish and some other long-term ongoing ones, but, on the whole we should be on for a good seasons boating after a fair bit of expenditure - both financial and physically, along with a fair amount of time!
