I never varnish outside wood anymore I just oil it twice a year, ever since the the gtood stuff has been removed from paint/varnish it just seems to fail within 2 years or so As you say, the cockpit gets Sadolin, easier to apply and re-treat than varnish - I think exterior woodwork needs the best varnish money can buy and hours of blood sweat and tears applying it for it to be any good. Even then the UV will savage it over time. I subscribe to my mates theory:- The person who invented decorating wants fucking. The person who invented fucking wants decorating. Inside we will keep the varnish to match the original fit out hence the idea of a two tone cabin door.

Ive got to rebuild x 2 rockeries that have slipped a bit..I can do that...but hoping not much else as Im tired of fighting this place and want to rest a bit....Im sorting through all dads tools and they are gonna go...do I really need 23 spanners? 23 spanners is not many spanners.

All in four weeksย ย aswell kidaย You seem to of got stuck already so confident you will get done. Bet it so good to work undercover Ill try and keep up watching ย We are very lucky to have the use of both the paint shed and slipway at no extra cost. A bit of planing and it should all come together OK. Between 4 of us we have it booked up for the next 2 months - I've had to get a kettle and water butt sorted so we have a brew station Canopy man is away till the 23rd, that's a bugger as I'll be week behind on that. Being able to do the hatch, door and locker tops at work helps too. I'm hoping to get some paint on on Sunday - fingers crossed!

Have 2 mashosive adjustable ones that dad used to repair the combine with....they are seized up so gonna donate them to this guy who makes garden ornaments out of scrap

I had to see what lies beneath! A quick blitz with the sander and it looks like this ๐ Need to go at it with some finer paper followed by a rub over with some scotchbrite under the orbital sander and she's good to go

My boss is understanding as he has a rally car that doesn't build itself

Come up good that kida, I love a bit of wood. I am going to try this out that has been suggested to me. www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/varfaq.htmlIn and out the boat, strakes and all laminate, 4 coats on the strakes and just two inside laminate and maybe three on the galley worktop. Just so long between coats at 24hrs min.

I hate varnish. Inevitably it cracks, water gets under it and you know the rest. Indoors I use Osmo Polyx oil, it's a lazy git's dream - a kind of oil/wax/varnish mix - wipe it on, wipe off excess. Mainly used on floors so hard wearing but just one coat on "furniture" is good.

Progress today! Anti slip deck paint - done! Rubbing strake - done! Cockpit top - done! On top of that the car sailed through the MOT Northern Star is completely flated back and nearly ready for primer. Sadly the Genny shit it's self so that called a halt to proceedings - see oil filter thread....!

Well i like all about it. Cant wait to try it and ram a few lock walls to see how tough it is
