today is the first time the internet connection here was quick enough to get piccies ...... wow !!! looking really smart Gazza, lovely work Ta! As I said to Wayne, being able to do some of the woodwork repairs along with staining and varnish at work is a massive help, both from a time and mess point of view! I'm going to plug all the screw holes with hardwood dowel and a splodge of wood glue, some holes are redundant, while some of the screw holes for things like hinges and catches are quite tired and loose, some of the screws don't pull up well at all. Now is the time to sort the job out properly. Painting the topsides is a piece of cake compared to farting about with the woodwork! Today I made a good start on the side windows for the screen, they are stripped back and waiting for the dowel to arrive. Last job of the day was to drop the canopy off at the lovely people at Corby Covers in Weldon, a couple of alterations and a small tear to repair. Getting there, getting there

You think you will have enough Tonkin for all that with just a liter. Just wondering as it looks or sounds a lot of wood you will be using it on. Thats unless you not doing loads of coats.
Love the idea with the Tonkin that you can use it over most other products even Oil.
You defo cracking on wit it, wish i could book some time off work but near out of holidays. Mnd you the lights should be fitted this weekend so then i can get on with more internal work during the week after work.

Steady away today, bit more sanding on the screens, glued a couple of loose joints. Still can't stain them until the dowel arrives. I decided to cheer up the ironmongery that holds the screens together. The turnbuckles and hinges have had the same treatment. I also did the boats bell - thank God we haven't much brass onboard, polishing brass is the most mind numbing job in the world. After work I nipped over and pulled the fridge out, one crispy roasted spider atop of the thermocouple! It's laying on its side at the moment, a neat trick to keep the refrigerant dispersed properly in absorption fridges fitted to less than level boats. Early start tomorrow to nip the spot primer back, tack rag the cabin superstructure then on with the paint.

I'm not sure tbh, will see how we go, most important is to get the screen done as the canopy hangs off it. I don't mind getting some more if I run out, 2.5l seemed loads, probably should have gone for 1.5l! Extra coats in the cockpit can be done as and when as it doesn't need sanding between coats, this is a bonus as it can be done under the canopy when we are out of the paint shed.

Dont think i will need as much as i am getting but as always i will be bloody wrong lol. Sounds the perfect Varnish doesnt it, no prep for extra coats, no peal cracking etc etc. Its like the pain ti am using on the Faffer, no prep just a wash down for extra coats as it bonds to itself. Jotun Pioner 38 i think, forgot now.

Wayne you're gonna love this stuff! The ripples are the reflection of the container roof and sides! Goes on easy as anything. A little seems to go along way too - I may have enough yet!

Wow Gazza! It's all looking rather spiffing mate. It's already in much better Nick than I am and we're a similar age...😀
