looking good..enjoy your family time the work will still be there next week. We had a good time Satuurday evening, little un still not impressed by the loudest of bangs, despite having her Rockstars on :- (This was last year at the end of SS1 of the Garden Stages Rally ) After the pops and bangs were over it was back to the boat to cook a load of Pizzas then up to the bar for a nightcap, decent English breakfast in the morning then off home to get ready for work and Nursery On the boat front the screens now have all their hardware screwed back on ready for refitting - I may get a chance to fit them this afternoon. Wednesday will see her finished and ready to go back on our mooring on Saturday morning. No rest though, I have a gas locker bottom to replace in Triton - a 1930's lifeboat conversion and then carry on with Northern Stars steering.

Northern Star looking sharp. Screen back on Fairlight. Both have a fair but of fitting out to do, but that's Wednesday's job.

Not that it needs saying. But looking very good. This is the first time in a while I feel she's had more out of me than I'd have liked - the last week has been real hard work! I think the last time she really beat me up was when I replaced the skeg and stern gear, that was really hard cold work outside. I've said it before but old Fred Dibnah was right, I couldn't bear to part with her, there's too much of us in it. she's had so much money, time and effort to get this far and we are still a little way short of where I want to be. Still, it will all be worth it come cruising time 🚢⚓👍🍻😀

I'm looking forward to the day it's 'only??!!' maintenance Today saw the tent going back on, I took the opportunity to reposition some of the common sense fasteners so they were easier to use, it's surprising how much the polyurethane fabric has shrunk since it was made around 5 years ago. I also lopped a couple of inches out of the stainless steel canopy tubes as it was as tight as a drum and quite hard to put up. It's been a bit of a struggle today as I had my hair cut after collecting the canopy, I've felt like Samson all day I did manage a five minute chug - we took the chance to shuffle the pair of them around so we are towing Northern Star straight out of the paint shed rather than faffing about at 7am on Saturday morning. It was good to have her moving for the first time in nearly a month - even if it was to nowhere and not for very long! Tomorrow I've a few bits to finish off on the canopy, few more common sense fasteners to fit and the shock cords to alter, after that it's refit Northen Star's screen and canopy - no doubt with a similar amount of knobing about required!

Its all a challenge isn't it? renovating old boats or houses it gets us to really think/get involved find out 'how to' do stuff we never would have ever done....I've learnt so much sorting out this old miners cottage I feel I could ...maybe...tackle anything...yet despite all my hands on acquired knowledge and skills family still regard me as a bit of a loser ..someone who gets it wrong more than i get it right....silly cos really i know.... Bit of a loser??!!! Anyone who regularly battles house of horrors, knotweed and the Worms head can't be a loser!

And it's a wrap! Fairlight back on the mooring, Northern Star out on the trailer having rudder replacement and new seacocks fitted. Well, that's a wrap at least until I start a Spring/Summer thread

Well done Gazza both look great! One day the bathtub will be finished, but I have no idea when that will be................ That's exactly what I think about all the very professional work you've accomplished on these boats, if it wouldn't be so cold (and if I still had more hair) I would take my head off for you. Also I appreciated the photos you've been showing us all the time, and that without any empty promisses of posting pictures of a job that someone else on this forum has been promissing since I don't even remember when anymore, about the work he was doing on what he call his "bathtub". No......, I won't tell you who I'm thinking of, but he'll know, and should feel ashamed. Peter Enregistrer

Peter EnregistrerThanks both of you, I was hoping to get a shot of her on the mooring but I was so busy farting about with Northern Star and Triton II (see the never ending thread...!) that i forgot! Pete will come good, I hope...
