We met the new owner of Sharpness 5 years ago at Lapworth. It's not Colin any more. Ex-Wast Hill Tunnel tug. With real rivets.

I heard on the radio that ordinary heterosexual baby mules may in future be allowed to have "civil partnerships" due to some law thing happening recently. I'm quite happy to have an uncivil partnership with my woman and be honest about it . i'm too young to be gay for now. Yes there was a discrimination appeal court case the other day. A breeder pair wanted a CP but they weren’t allowed due to being breeders. Actually I agree with the outcome, however if I were in government I would just eliminate CPs for everyone, rather than allowing breeders to join in. Now we have gay marriage there is no need or point in having CPs. What you blatantly fail to appreciate is that I do not want to marry the mother of my children under any circumstances but I really would like to have a civil partnership. The fact that it is uncivil is a major concern.

Jeff and I have been together for 25 years now. We got married for two reasons, one of them being tax and inheritance (I’m 18 years older and if I popped my clogs and we weren’t married, my fortune in rusty gold bars would be taxable). The second being that it was becoming annoying introducing Jeff as my “partner” only to be asked “Oh, your business partner?” To which I had to reply “No, my fuck-buddy partner” at which point they would scuttle off all embarrassed. Now I can just say “my husband” which is so much clearer and easier. Why not just say 'your son'?

Anyway, it would be an admission that I had sex with a woman and that would be shameful! Plus, if you’d met us you’d know that I am very tall and he is average to short. If I claimed to be his dad everyone would say “yeah right, I guess the milkman way only 5’ 8”.

The devil is in the detail.
Marriage = nonsense rubbish.
Civil partnership = what anyone would want.
Surely.
I am not interested in the legal framework surrounding all this conjugal nonsense but a civil partnership sounds like a good thing to have with another person who you have decided to join up with to bring up your children.
I agreed with doing some sort of thing (the woman said she would never leave me and I said the same after a few weeks of dating) but marriage is an old fashioned religion-based institution which I disagree with.

Marriage isn't always beer and skittles though. I've seen this video before, and my thoughts are "Why would anyone put up with this?" Verbal assault is as unacceptable as physical assault and in these circumstances I would give her one chance to stop, and if she didn't I would punch her in the face as hard as possible. I can only imagine that he is a very weak and subservient man who enjoys being dominated and abused. Or he's deaf as a post?

No, you are suffering from an anachronistic misconception. Marriage is nothing to do with religion, it is an institute of the state. You don’t have to be religious to get married. You don’t have to get married in a church. You don’t have to bring god into it at all. We certainly didn't. Neither is marriage old fashioned.

Yes, it’s the ideal thing to take to a party where you don’t know anybody.

I congratulate Jeff for his tolerance, patience and resilience. I will pass that on, however he will say that it has all been a pleasure and he can’t understand why you bunch of lowlife ill-educated scum don’t see what a wonderful lovely witty intelligent empathetic person I am. Thanks Jeff. I'm having that Rog
